Who Would Be Most Critical Loss After Brees?

They have been accumulating some pretty darn impressive depth. As shown last season we lost a starting LT, corners, running backs, and DEs for periods and kept ticking right along. We've added new depth at DE, CB, TE, have Vaughn and Arnoux, etc, etc.
So the question is:
Not counting a significant outage to Brees which player out would have the highest negative impact on the team?
Give your top 3 and reasons.
me:
Vilma- he's the captain and playcaller, the LBs are average with him in there. It's an incredible chasm at MLB after him.
Hartley- Payton's most troubling position to fill until he stepped up, can cost some W's
Will Smith- He may not be all world but he deserved more props than he got last year. After him we're hoping for guy that perform average or better, not dominant.
bonus pick for Goodwin, play caller, I think Tennant can be a keeper but there's nothing proven to fall back on.

Bush 3...2...1
Really must go with Vilma. Our run D would get the biggest hit. Or Gresham

I don't think anyone comes close to the importance of Brees. That being said, I would hate to lose Morestead. Dude is beastly.

Well we saw what happened when we lost him, and although it really hurt, we were still able to win without him. I don't think we win half of those same games without Vilma.
So my answer is obviously Vilma.

top 3 with reasons
I didn't put a CB cuz as pointed out about last year- definitely a hit and falloff but they still rolled along. Add this year we have Jenkins with a year of experience (even if getting ready for FS) and another 1st Rd CB added to the mix.

Jahri Evans - yes i said it, an OG. Why? best run blocker, plus with the short stature and step up throwing style of Brees a dominant run AND pass blocking OG is crooooooshul. Brees has to have clear lines btn the tackles to throw his timing passes.
eta: and any loss that could increase the chances of an injury to Brees is not good at all.

Jahri Evans
could prob pass by a few weeks without him but an entire season would be tough

Agreed. Think of the play he made last year in the SB dropping deep into covergage to swat away a sure TD. Think of all the other big stops last year he was in on. The dude has a high FB IQ, is a vocal leader, and is very athletic for not being so tall.

1. Vilma...as was said, the guy is the Qb on defense. If Brees goes down, the defense will have to win games.
2. Hartley...with Brees out, the Saints would become a "field position" team; their strategy will focus of getting close enough for field goals.
3. Morestead...continuing the theory from Nos.1 and 2, field position will be the deciding factor whether we win, or lose, games. This guy has quickly become a game changer on punts and kickoffs.

What he said... Vilma is definitely the leader on the other side that we need.
