Steele lists a Tar Heel as the nation's No. 1 defensive end (Robert Quinn), No. 1 defensive tackle (Marvin Austin), No. 1 inside linebacker (Quan Sturdivant), No. 1 outside linebacker (Bruce Carter), No. 2 free safety (Deunta Williams) and No. 4 and No. 13 cornerbacks (Kendric Burney and Charles Brown).

Looks like motivation and locker room material to me. SEC football is just a completely different breed from ACC football. It's like they forgot how much talent on defense Miami had in 05', Va Tech in 07', and Ga Tech in 08'. I honestly can't wait for this game because it will set the tone for the rest of the season.

Quinn, Austin, Sturdivant, and Carter are really good players (could easily be 1st string on just about any SEC team), but it is the remaining players on the defense and almost the entire offense that will be their downfall.

I think you are right on.

No. 1 inside linebacker (Quan Sturdivant),
Smoking dope!
Looks like they'll suspend him for one play of the LSU game!
fricking ACC thugs....

Am I the only one that wants this Quan guy to play? I want to smash them at their best, so after the game, we won't hear "if we had Quan we would have won"

Don't forget the highly-touted #1 ranked Ohio State Defense also.
Point is, Miami, VaTech,GaTech and OSU all had 3 things in common 1)they were rated as top-ranked defensely, 2) none played SEC caliber offenses week-in and week-out, and 3) they were all absolutely destroyed by LSU
I don't Mr Steele is giving proper consideration to that while he is spreading himself so thin with his data-rich pre-season guides and all.

Remember when V-Tech cAme into death valley with macho hArris and the best D in the ACC - they got pwnd - the site will be Georgia but we gonna whip that arse the same way - we have some talent on Defense - give me shep,PP7, and a motivated drake Nevis over any of their 3 just IMHO of course

ACC isn't that bad against SEC
Not saying it helps but I am seeing post like "LSU will destroy them" "ACC can't hang"
Same stuff read before Washington last year, Penn State.
SEC is great but UNC is still a very good team and will probably field one of the better defenses LSU has played all season. Not saying LSU won't win but some score predictions remind me of EA Sports version of NCAA 11.
First game of season as well, so no telling who will come out flat and who will come out ready to play.

Carolina gets back nine starters from a unit that led the ACC and finished sixth nationally last year in total defense. Six of that number landed on the All-ACC team, and five of that group are being sized up as potential first-round draft picks next April.
This could definitely backfire on the Tar Heels this year. When the defensive players having already proved themselves and put together their best stuff, and with them now concentrating on themselves as individuals in anticipation of the NFL Draft, they could easily become a collection of look-at-me showboaters that ends up having huge breakdowns as a team.
Not saying it's going to happen ... but it could.

I'm J/J but realisticAlly I can see a final score of 24 - 10 posi-tigers

LSU won't score 31 points.

I see LSU winning by a field goal or late touchdown,
maybe something like 17-10, 21-13. I do not expect to see 400+ yards from either team.
