Yeti ice chest. I saw these at Bass Pro the other day and the big ice chest was $400. This seems really expensive. Does anyone know what's so good about them and if they are worth the money?

Super insulated, stays cold for five days (so I've heard). Don't have to keep buying ice.
$400 -- I'll just keep buying ice.

One of my friends has one. They are nice and definitely keep ice frozen for much longer than normal ice chests. But, not worth the money for me.

I've got one a buddy gave me cause he hated it. They will hold ice like a sumbitch, but they are heavy and have a pretty small holding capacity compared to their size. They are so air tight sometimes it's hard to get the lid open. But if you want to save money on ice they are by far the best ice chest on the market.

I won one at a golf tournament. Its a hell of an ice chest and like the other guy said, it doesnt start to lose ice for almost five days.
Not a shot in hell I would have paid for one, You can buy a lot of ice for $400

they are good for ice on a camping trip. however, if you are drinking beer, you don't want to have to open that sumbitch often. it's so sealed that the tips of your fingers will be sore after beer 5.

I have one.
premier, long lasting.
When its 100 out, you want to know that your food or medicines will be safe from the heat.
I hardly ever use it, but I like the option, when I am traveling.
I have meds which have to be under 76 degrees.

well, every offshore rig/platform has boxes that contain lifevests that are equiped with this same type of rubber latch and anyone who has worked offshore will tell you that they will dry out and break very rapidly.

I think they are nice and durable to keep in a bay boat or offshore but where they will get abused but I would never pay that for a ice chest. I have read the test done between them and some of the igloo marine grade and others and there was not much difference. My buddy just bought the huge one and brags about how long it keeps ice when the dumb arse has a ice machine at his camp

every bit worth the money if you fish offshore. You want a hard icechest that can take a beating and keep your fish ice cold without worry of running out of ice. Even good for inshore. They are great if you have somewhere for it to sit full time.
It is not meant for travel use as other lighter ice chests are.

Thought about it, just to much money for an ice chest

i have one it's pretty nice except when you have to carry something heavy the handles suck on those things

For 400 dollars, it better make its own ice.

Using block ice rather than small ice, in a regular ice chest, will greatly increase how long it lasts. So will duct taping it shut on the long rides, and keeping it out of the direct sun if you can.
I'll do all of that before I spend 400 bones on one of these things.

its a good durable ice chest, but i can tell you that when im on the boat for 12 hrs, the ice i put in that morning will be 75-85 % melted by the end of the day. with that being said,it is in direct sunlight for most of the day, but overall in normal conditions ice will last about 3 days.

To me it has "Please steal me" written all over it. Not that regular chests don't get stolen occasionally. I would be worried about leaving one of these in a boat or truck bed.
I am starting to see these all over the place though in different stores.
