Philly Cheese steaks

I just buy steakums from wal-mart to do mine. Season it with tony's, garlic powder, and Worcestershire.
Use one medium onion and a bell pepper, cut julienne and seasoned with a little salt and pepper.
I have one of those flat top griddles that I put the meat on one side and the veggies on the other. I usually put the veggies on first unless the meat is still kinda frozen. Once the veggies are soft, I mix them with the meat and saute for a few minutes. After that, I take it off the griddle.
For the bread, I buy the hoagie buns from wal-mart. I melt some cheez-wiz in the microwave and spoon it onto the bottom part of the bun. I then take a spoonful of the meat and veggies and put it next, then layer a half slice of pepperjack cheese on top.
I wrap the whole thing in foil and put it in the oven for 15 minutes.
Usually come out pretty delicious. Sometimes I'll use ribeyes cut thin but the steakums turn out just fine.

OMFG. No, no, no.
An old friends dad is from Philly and here's how he used to make them. Pan fry ribeyes. As the ribeye cooks chop it up. Cook your onions and peppers in with the ribeye. Near the end add your cheese and cook it in.
Serve with your favorite cheesesteak addons. I prefer sauted mushrooms.

I feel obligated to comment on this topic. Here are my tips: Good roll (Italian Hogie Roll) Amoroso's Is the best, chop the meat, add cheese (white american, provolone, or cheese whiz) and grill onions.
Other things are optional: mushrooms, jalapeño, lettuce, tomato, onions, etc...
I prefer just bread, meat, cheese, and onions.
If you buy a ribeye, put it in the freezer for 10 minutes, it will help you slice it thin...like a steak em'. On a griddle or skillet, brown the meat and sautee' the onions. Once ready, I put the cheese on the bread and add meat and onions. I like to mix them together and the heat from the meat melts the cheese.
After 7 years in Philly...I knew I couldn't leave with out learning to make this. "South of Philly" is good...but if you cook them at home they are better. SOP's are too greasy in my opinion.
Finally, go to 5:45 Good Eats
Alton is usually a good guide...but he goes with a fancier cheese...that's your call.

Have your butcher run some ribeyes through a deli slicer. Hit em with some slap ya mama. Cook on oiled griddle with sliced onions and mushrooms. Pull meat apart has it cooks. Dress em how like on a hoagie roll add cheez whiz.
