AT&T data speed during tailgate

I'm thinking about bringing a laptop to stream the morning and afternoon games at our tailgate via an AT&T data card. Anyone ever paid attention to their 3G data speeds on campus during gameday? I figure I need 500-600 kbps for anything watchable.
I'm working on getting a guest pass for the on-campus wifi but no luck as of yet.
Thoughts?

That network will be crushed. Cell phones and the like are practically unusable.

Lot of people on campus and most have AT&T. With my experience the bandwidth is extremely slow to not available at all during this timeframe.

This! Happens every game. Count on it.

first two answers are dead on. Thousands and thousands of people on campus using phones and such at the same time. I don't know about a laptop but its often times hard to get calls and texts to go out on gamedays.

You probably won't even have 3G access.
Last few games I went to, 3G wasn't available and even with the mobile cell towers, the network was still packed and about unusable.

Get a student to sign into lsusecure for you and use LSUs wifi to stream the games.

Pretty much agree with everyone else. I have trouble sending out texts on gameday much less checking Facebook or Twitter. I can't imagine you would be able to stream anything worth a frick.

Just like everyone said as more people pile onto campus the worse off your data speed is going to be. I found my AT&T phone became about worthless about an hour before kickoff... but my sprint phone on the other hand still worked fine (I'm guessing that not many people had sprint). So maybe if you try another carrier?

There was an article over the summer about AT&T upgrading their network in BR and specifically on campus. If that didn't happen your AT&T signal will be less than useless.

The airways were jammed into oblivion all day and night during last years UF game. Cell phones = useless.

No doubt, At&t is worthless on gameday. I don't get texts from earlier in the day after I get off campus late at night. If they could just get the basic phone and text services to work I would be extremely happy.

if you are near the parade grounds lsusecure should work. I think there is a coverage map if you search lsu.edu for it
