He was at gymnastics in the PMAC one time and people kept yelling at him to sit down and shut up. Didn't faze superfan! He kept running up and down the aisle trying to get everyone fired up.

"2 legit...2 legit to quit!!!"
...as he runs up and down PMAC with a pom pom on his head!!

I will never forget him singing "2 legit to quit" while wearing duct tape on his face at a men's basketball game...he also knew pretty much every sports fact imaginable.

that guy used to take a lot of crap from people. he was constantly pelted with ice, paper, anything else students sitting behind him could throw.
i saw a guy snatch his bandana off his head during one game. he chased the guy around the walkaway above the student section. He eventually caught him, put his bandana back on, and went right back to cheering.
I think Coach Brown gave him a set of team warmups. Never saw him wear anything else after getting them. He went to every sporting event there was.

lived with in Kirby Smith. Arrive the same year as him in 1991. I hated when he would do his little chant when WE were shooting free throws. Amazing how he impacted many of us at LSU at that time. Imagine if we were good in football back then. Probably would not have mattered to Mike. Does anybody know where he is these days?

He wore art gum on his ears for the basketball games. Every free throw the other team would try, he would say "miss it miss it". When LSU would try a free throw, he would sing a song. People would yell at him to shut-up. He loved LSU basketball.

I remember him when I was in the BBBB 94-95 with art gum and the pom pom. He would throw the pom pom down the aisle and catch it, as if he were throwing himself a pass. We asked him about it and said he was both Joe Montana and Jerry Rice playing catch. Who knows? Mike Toole and Bosely (sp?) were some pumped up, motivated somnuguns on the PMAC back then.

I remember him...
He used to see him in the rec working out sometimes too. He was a pretty big guy. I got the idea that maybe he had Aspergers or some problem with social skills. He was a super fan at the bb games. Its funny how a character like that isn't forgotten.

He actually got to LSU in the fall of 90. I was in Kirby at the same time. I was in the Shaq Pack so we were out there early for games along with the Toole man. Dude was a sports encyclopedia. We would quiz him on shite like who was the national league gold glove 1st baseman in 1986 and he would know it. Mike Toole the ultimate posi-tiger.

A friend of mine had a first floor dorm in Kirby Smith in 93 I think and shared a bathroom with Mike Toole. My friend got some bizarre amoebic dystentary type infection that fricked him up terribly. He blamed Mike of course but he always seemed healthy to me so who knows. Truly an LSU icon in the early to mid 90s though.

My boy Mike Toole is an institution. Remember "blamp....blamp....blamp....blamp....blampblampblampblamp....blampblaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamp" as we shot free throws. "TOUCHDOWN EMMIT SMITH!!!"
He was the man. I heard recently that he was living in the New Orleans area, perhaps connected to a high school in some capacity. I'll check on it.

Don't know him, but the stories make him seem like a cross between Radio and a high functioning savant.
Sounds like he was a character.

Hey Bosceaux...
I lived in Kirby Smith as a freshman in fall 90/spring 91 too.
Definitely remember Mike Toole...
After Shaq and Geert left, Dale held an open tryout for the basketball team. I was there and so was Toole.
He didn't make it.

I lived on the same floor in Kirby Smith with Mike during my first semester at LSU. I was told by some guys on the floor that he was like an idiot savant when it came to sports statistics. While in the elevator with him one time, I said aloud "How many RBI did Dale Murphy have in 1982?", and he turned to me and said the correct answer. I was amazed.

What about Big Red in the 70s?

I remember seeing Toole in the gym. He would psyche himself up in the mirror before doing squats. Dude was strong.

Was Mike the one who would do the Indian chant that was simular to the FSU chant?

Awesome guy. Talked to himself all the time. Sang out loud, was at every LSU sporting event including gymnastics.
