Should the SEC do away with the divisions?

The head to head wins inside the division carry so much weight, maybe too much...

No. Your division games mean more and it sets up the framework for the SECCG.
It just happens this year that the West seems better than the East.

I know, but the east would have had the same gripe for years...
It would allow for a balancing of the schedules (We get Florida every year??) All current schedules for SEC West teams are not created equal.

This. I'm sure Florida is thrilled to get LSU every year too. Especially since 2000.
eta: but keep the divisions.

Yeah, I never understood the point of divisions within a conference. What is the point? Why not just take the two best teams from the conference and have them play for the conference championship. It just makes sense.
As it is now, it would be like taking the top 6 teams in the country, but the top 3 are all in the same division, so the national championship game is #1 vs #4. It just doesn't make sense. It should be #1 vs. #2.

I dont think you can have a SECCG without divisions. Thats too much money for them to lose.

They should get rid of them in basketball & baseball.
I'm ok with keeping them for football, but wish the east rotation didn't include a permanent opponent.

If there were a national championship playoff with 8 or 16 teams, I think the SEC could dump the divisions, have one regular season champ. Since it would not hinder the chance of the non-champs to get in on the playoff, I would not mind if the winner did not have to play the two best teams in conference. The Sugar would have to become part of the playoff system for this to work out.

I'm glad it does. To be the best, you have to beat the best. The LSU/UF game takes the two best venues in the SEC (The Swamp & Tiger Stadium) and let's the teams go at it.

They will eventually have to face the #1 or #2 team to win the title. Unless they play each other that is. If they dont deserve it then they lose.

I think since we lost to Auburn we ought to do away with divisions. We should over react since we did not win a game.

The point was the regular season. But if it is Oregon v. Boise, then neither had to beat the best to be the best.
Also, it's not really about this year...LSU is where it should be (on the outside looking in). But the best two SEC teams don't always play in the SECCG...simply because of the divisions.

Dump it, its stupid. Only way a Arky or a USC will be able to play in it, with 3 losses. Lets see, what would a number 2 vs and number 5 be like, hmmmmm. Eh, I guess nobody would watch it. Let the number 2 play whatever USC is ranked this week.
