Hard to argue with Kelvin Shepard. Most will say PP but with the way the freshmen have played i will have to disagree. How does our LB core look for next year?

With Kelvin other players can pick up the slack or Chief can change the schemes to cover up that weakness. I think its Jasper because if our kicker sucks we only have two and you may not have both the accuracy and leg strength we have with Josh.

Its a close tie between K shep, guess just depends what exactly you mean by hard...K sheps leadership and directing the defense will def be missed....PP though changes an opposing teams gameplan....as far as making qbs think twice throwing to him and coaches kicking it to him.

Don't get me wrong. He's one of my favorite players that has come through at LSU....

but Simon and Mathieu may have the other side of the field locked down. Claiborne is no pushover.

The problem with this is, there's always the next Kelvin on the roster. None of us thought he would be what he is now, back then. He got a lot of "Meh"s when recruited.

It's Drake Nevis. A linebacker cannot match the impact a defensive tackle can make on any given play. Drake's penetration can blow a play up before it starts and the double teams he commands free up other players. Kelvin was the leader and a great player, but an interior lineman is more effective....and I am not downplaying the value of a middle linebacker who is a run stopper and plays pass defense.....but look at the national title teams and you will find great d-linemen and many times a great d-tackle.

Yeah simon/ty mat/ mo clai can get it done but as of right now they are not the threat that PP7 was. Ty mat thought probably played the best on def all year, made some plays happen...however..I wish he was a bit taller

He'll never be any good since he never got offered by UGA.

RIP Ocean (or Derby. I never remember his name)

Derek Helton should be on the list.

Punting is a critical part of the game, and LSU typically has won the exchange of punts to the tune of about 15 yards per "exchange". those hidden yards add up, and it's been the reason we've been able to hide some offensive defecencies these last few years.

We've been dominant on special teams, and now we may be starting from ground zero.

Nevis is great but we have a history of producing defensive lineman. Our collective front 4 next year will be just as good... the other's gaining experince and strength will nearly offset the loss of Nevis.

Linebackers on the other hand... I'm not sure we have another Kelvin waiting in the wings.

Easily Josh Jasper:

Two weapons
1. Long range FGs.
2. The ability to nail the ball inside the 10 yd. line.

Josh Jasper

We have some depth returning on the d line and some outstanding recruits.

Sheppard will be a big loss but with Chavis and talent returning we should be ok.

Jasper on the other hand has noone proven to step in and nail a 50 yard field goal with a game on the line. I don't think enough importance can be placed on losing him.
