I remember when it first came out I was pretty pumped but I was actually a little let down by the product.

I've tried some since then a few times and it seems as if they've got the kinks worked out.

I prefer their vanilla to pretty much all of the national brands. I also really like their Cafe Au Lait(pretty sure they use Community brand if anyone cares).

I would say they're without a doubt in the top 2-3 local ice creams (and by local I mean LA based) that you can buy in the store and not just at a creamery.

I love kleinpeter milk, but their ice cream is a big fail IMO.

New Orleans Ice Cream Co. is an infinitely better store-bought, local ice cream.

RIP K&B Ice Cream

That's what I had thought initially and I had only tried the vanilla

Few months later I tried the Sweet Potato Pie and it pissed me off. Because it tasted EXACTLY like sweet potatoe pie...BUT. NO. DAMN. PIE. CRUST. TORTURE.

Anyway it's been about 3.5 years since it first came out that I was willing to give it another try. I recently bought a pint of the vanilla and thought it was great. I don't know if they're doing something different now or what but I really don't remember liking it.

I'll get that on occasion just so I can get a pint of the creole cream cheese

Where are the real cows anyway?

Does Kleinpeter Ice Cream still wreak of HFCS? I found that even worse than their hint-o-main-ingredient, as cause to quit them after the first year of trying numerous ones. And the third big qualm, proud price per unproven product.

I hope they turn it around, get on par with their milk and creams, and will be trying a few this summer.

Do they still have Don Gerald in charge? Not exactly an career ice creamologist running things.

I can't answer your other questions but I can tell you it's cheaper than all the national brands

I got a pint of the vanilla for 1.75 at Rouse's in New Orleans

That's basically free

If you can get a good batch (mostly meaning one that made it to the store without obvious freezing/unfreezing issues), this is the best plain coffee ice cream in the ice cream aisle, IMO.

If that is a universal price(not just Rouse's), then they've altered their prices from their first few years?

I'm pulling for Kleinpeter to get it down pat, and have a great product.

As a vanilla fan, have you tried Blue Bell's Natural Vanilla Bean(the one without HFCS)? I'm not the biggest Blue Bell fan sans Moolicious and Wedding Cake, but it's decent for mainstream brands.

I'm not sure, but I believe Kleinpeter are big on Guernseys and Holsteins?

Not sure about Blue Bell?

I haven't tried Kleinpeter's ice cream since it
first came out but there is an article in Sun-
day's Advocate (B R) business section relating
to their ice cream business and expansion.
