La Petite Grocery Review

Went there over the weekend and I must say that I was impressed. We had a large group (15 people) and sometimes the waitstaff, if not prepared, can get behind; I'm pleased to say that this wasn't the case.
Apps:
blue crab beignets with spicy remoulade - these were more like Blue Crab Boudin Balls. The subtle crab flavor was not masked by the remoulade, as I was afraid might happen. Overall they were very good.
potato gnocchi w/ bacon, parmesan, crème fraiche and chive- The gnocchi was cooked perfectly, although the dish was, in my opinion, a little too simple; but overall the flavor was nice, just unidimensional.
1st course
iceberg wedge w/ cherry tomatoes, applewood smoked bacon and crème fraiche dressing - fairly standard but the dressing was good, although they put too much on the wedge. This was a dish that, if possible, I would omit from the experience.
Main Course
paneed rabbit w/ wilted spinach, spaetzle and lemon caper brown butter - The star of the show (as any entree should be). Absolutely one of the best rabbit dishes I've had. The spaetzle and spinach played perfectly with the rabbit and butter. I would've eaten an entire hutch's worth of rabbit if they would've allowed it!
Apps - A-
1st course - C
Entree - A+
Overall - A to A-
I would definitely return!
Has anyone else been?

Where is this? I know I've heard, but can't remember.

A fine dining place should never serve a wedge salad, IMO. It is the epitome of chef laziness.

Yeah it really wasn't anything special.

I have only been once, but we really enjoyed our experience. It was about a year ago. I have been thinking I need to go back. So many choices, so little time!

I ate there about year ago. The food quality was excellent. There were a lot of creative dishes and all the flavors were well put together. Pretty much fine dining.
However, I do remember the portions being a bit small. Also, the place was pretty pricey for lunch. I guess you get what you pay for.

Was I in your party? I went for the 1st time this weekend with a group of 15. Had the same appetizers, but the special salad with grapefruit and poached shrimp. Had black drum for dinner. Cool place. Food was about a B.

I went on Friday night if that helps answer your question. I don't remember the specials being those that you mentioned.

A grocery on Magazine. Fitting.
I really need to give this place a shot.

Maybe I will go after my shave and guinness at Aidan Gill.
