What does that even mean? Was he doing it pro bono before but now the compliance dept is going to make the players pay for it?

Couldn't have anything to do with Mr. Fisher's long, LONG history of representing LSU, could it?

LINK

quote:

* That [Johnny] Jones arranged for Earl's mother to contact lawyer Nathan Fisher, an LSU booster, for legal representation at no cost.

LSU agrees a "technical violation ... may have occurred" because the woman was referred to Fisher prior to Earl's enrollment. Fisher sent her to another attorney.

it's not that big of a deal that Fisher does Pro Bono work for LSU. All he has to do is pro bono work for non athletic students.

whats the big deal?

Dean, anyway you can just quote the original tweet...instead of including RandyRosetta...very confusing.

It just means they will be billed:

"Our compliance staff talked today,” LSU spokesman Herb Vincent said, “and they were not comfortable with that. He’s representing them and he’s going to have to bill them. The method of payment is still to be determined.”

Like someone said in another post, he can bill them as little as $1 or $5 each--he can bill them how much he wants. But I wouldn't worry about any NCAA involvement in this--they've got too much else on their plate already!

Actually if the pro bon work is problematic so would giving them a discounted rate. An extra benefit is not only a free benefit, a discount would apply as well. That being said, in my entirely non expert opinion if he has a history of doing pro bono work for LSU students int he past, i don;t se why this owudl be a problem.

Fisher has been representing LSU athletes for 30 years, and they are just now figuring out it might not be a good idea? They coulndn't have had this conversation, ya know, years ago? Or at least before he walked in there today?
