Tony La Russa overmanagement MELTDOWN in full effect

Third pitching change of the inning. This guy is insane. Too hard to explain it but he micromanages so much that you know his pitchers fricking hate him.
Cards bullpen likely to blow a 3 run lead in this 9th inning. Phillies fans going crazy.
Motte to Rhodes to Dotel now.
Motte (L) was to face Utley (L) with nobody on and 2 outs and of course La Russa overmanages and pulls him. Rhodes promptly gives up a single and now the winning run is up in one Hunter Pence.
Dotel puts out the flames. Retire this thread.

La Russa is the biggest doucher in sports.
I was at a Cardinals/Pirates game earlier in the year when the Cards had a four or five run lead in the ninth inning.
Pirates first two batters in the ninth get out. Next man walks. Man on first, two outs, Cards up four or five runs in the ninth inning, and La Russa makes a pitching change. Guy is pathetic.

Thanks for getting my back. He's almost trolling the way he goes to the pen so much within the 8th and/or 9th innings. The only reason it's not "trolling" is because it has blown up in his face a ton this year - they've blown something like 25 late-inning leads.

so this is because of La Russa? and not the shitty bullpen?

While the Cards pen is pathetic outside of Motte, La Russa tends to over manage in regards to pitching changes / double switches like no other.
There's no need for a pitching change up 4+ runs with two outs in the ninth when the tieing run isn't even on deck.
It's no surprise that many of La Russa's former players blast him once they leave STL.

Not to mention he's obviously won with that style before. Not saying I like it, but he's proved successful.

Larusa is a micromanaging fool but you are misstating this vastly. This was not one of those situations
Motte is a Right handed pitcher set ti face the left handed hitting utley, so he brought in a lefty to face him
Rhodes gave up a hit, so he brings in the righty to face the right handed batting pence
This is playing the splits. If he would have left motte in to face utley, or Rhodes in to face pence then you would say about him he is going against traditional baseball matchups
