Why are people referring to the upcoming opponent as "WVA"?

We used to have that as a state abbreviation before the standardized postal ones.
Same people that ask us how far we are from Richmond.
And that WFV t-shirt is really retarded. It really is West By God Virginia.
Anyway all the best shirts are about Pitt anyway. What will be do with all of those shirts when they are in the ACC?
