First, I dont wanna hear anything about overlooking Auburn. They wont.

I guess since it will be 1 vs 2, its at least tied for biggest ever. I'm sure some old timers could throw out other big ones.

When has there been 2 undefeateds in the SECCG that were 1 vs 2?

It's the game of the century. I don't care what happens in the next 89 years.

It depends on how the game unfolds. If it isn't a good game, then it will have been a bust.

'09 SECCG. UF vs Bama.
However, the SECCG has been a virtual MNC play-in game for the last 5 years. Win and you're in.

I'm not sure if there has ever been an SEC regular season #1 vs #2 play in game.

Don't bank on a 1 vs 2 matchup just yet...with both us and Bama being idle next week, and Oklahoma playing Texas Tech then Kansas St. on the road during our bye week could push them to either 2 or possibly 1.

They won't pass up on the hype money of 1v2. Especially since one has to lose anyway. Everyone would like to see 1v2 and okla can be #2 the following week.

Alabama-Florida were undefeated #1 vs #2 in the 2009 SECCG. Of course the year before they were #1 vs #2 as well (AP poll I think) even though Florida had lost once. Ohio St-Michigan were undefeated #1 vs #2 when they played at the end of the year in 2006. It isn't unheard of.

Good point...I had heard Skip Bayless talking about Oklahoma jumping LSU or Bama on our bye week, but forgot how much loves Oklahoma.

IMO this year's game is SO much bigger than that Bama/UF game in 09.

The intriguing thing is that these 2 teams are almost identical in every way. Plus the buildup for this matchup has been building all season. It has so many implications.

That game was a blowout and didn't live up to the hype at all

Lolwut? Take off the purple and gold glasses. That game was the SEC Championship and was absolutely a national semi-final that was being billed as the defacto national title game by everybody outside of Texas (this LSU-Alabama game is being billed as a national semi-final, but not so much the national title game except by us here in the SEC). Not to mention, there's no guarantee, although it's highly likely, the winner of this game goes on to the national title game. There was no doubt then. Add in a neutral site, a folk legend/hated player like Tebow, a guy in Mark Ingram who was named the Heisman winner the next week, the rematch/revenge factor and the fact that it was the second straight year Alabama and Florida had made the SECCG ranked #1 and #2 and I guarantee that 2009 SECCG was bigger.

They can't control the computer rankings, which is where Oklahoma will make up ground over the next 2 weeks.
