The difference being that before that could happen Alabama would have to beat a ranked team to get to play LSU.

How soon you forget. In 2007 LSU lost 2 games; Kentucky and Arkansas. (Kentucky, for God's sake) LSU sneaked into the NCG when the teams ranked above them lost. Now that Alabama is about to do the same thing, it is claimed to be illegitimate. Come on, man! At least be consistent. Either accept that you may play Alabama again, or give back the 2007 trophy.

I could see Alabama missing feild goals against Oregon, or Wisconsin, or MSU or Boise, or HOuston, or OSU, or OU,,,,

I could go on...

You left our one very important issue in this arguement.

LSU won the SEC that year

AFTER the Gumps had to go on the road and beat say an Oregon then an OSU.
THEN they would have earned it.

If they implemented a playoff system NOW, but in any playoff system I'd think was fair Bama wouldn't be playing LSU because they finished second in their division.

And HOW is this even REMOTELY the same situation?

If in 2007 either Kentucky or Arkansas was ranked #1 I would agree that LSU shouldn't have played in the BCS title game against them, since they already had beaten us.

Or, if one of those loses were to Ohio State, same thing!

Head to head in college football is the most telling and objective indicator and the regular season matters...you don't get two bites of the apple.

There are plenty of 1 loss teams that would like to have ONE shot at LSU, why should Bama get TWO.

I know, everyone THINKS that Bama is the second to best team in the country, but there's no way to really know that...give someone their shot.

That being said, we'll kick whoever's arse they put on the field with us...including Bama!

Dear Moron,

In 2007, LSU sneaked in because LSU won the SECW, the SEC and had previously date raped VT on National TV. They were the SEC Champion, had already beaten one team ranked ahead of them, another team ranked ahead of them (UGA) had not even won their division (see a trend here?) and WVU couldn't beat PITT.

In conclusion, you're dumb.

Sincerely,
GeauxTigerTM

P.S. 9-6

OK, I get it. You are unable to stop whining. By the way, if you guys read anything I have posted you would know that I never attended Alabama but have my diploma from LSU Medical School (Internship Psychiatry-Psychology Dept,'85) hanging on my office wall. Man, you guys sure are insecure and therefore touchy about your team!

Your post was, well...stupid. It was meritless. It had literally nothing to do with the issue at hand.

You are either too dumb to recognize that fact, or flaming the board.

None of that is whining. It's pointing out a fact.

LSU backed into the 2007 game, but had earned that right based on several key factors, none of which BAMA has in their favor.

A) LSU had won their division and their conference. BAMA has and will not win either.

B) LSU had beaten a team ranked ahead of them BADLY earlier in the year and pollsters made the correct call by flipping those two teams in their final poll. BAMA has not beaten anyone of note, and certainly not any of the potential teams looking to move into the coveted #2 spot.

C) BAMA is 2011's version of UGA circa 2007...a team with a loss (UGA and all others had two in 2007) who is on the outside looking in because they were unable to get the job done and win their division of the SEC, let lone the conference title.
