I know DSOTM is the standard and is their most popular, but I'm sure people here will have varying tastes.

I will always have fond memories of DSOTM because it's the first exposure I had to the band in early high school. That was the first album I could ever listen to start to finish without skipping any. And of course, there were many, many nights with my buddies listening to that album while doing some other things. The listenability of it has lessened as I've goten older though, I can't really just pop it in on the road and cruise.

I think at this point the Wall has kind of overtaken favorite in that category. Animals, AHM, Meddle, and OBC all have some awesome stuff on there that I love but I don't dig the whole albums like I do DS or the Wall.

When it comes to their early stuff (Piper, saucerful) and later stuff I don't really like that much at all.

Meddle
Saucer Full of Secrets
Momentary Lapse of Reason

Those 3 I really like. I get burned out on The Wall and DSOTM.

Meddle is unbelievable. Into Little Pieces is top 5 Floyd songs imo

Wow...that's an eclectic mix of Floyd tastes.
Very different sounds there.

Of cours DSOTM is the alltime greatest, so throw that out.

Wish You Were Here is amazing, and what a followup to it.
Next for me is The Division Bell and then Momentary Lapse folowed closely by The Wall, only for listenability.
The Wall truly has the greatest songs, but so much Roger Waters filler.
Then Animals. Animals is hard to listen to while distracted. Takes total concentration I feel.
OBC is good too.
But everything before that is very very hard to get into.

And wow....all hail Chicken for this board. :finally:

I dont listen to Floyd very often. I have to be in a certain mindset. I really like listening to DSOTM after a show. Its a great come down album. But overall, I think Animals is their most ambitious album.

Yep. But they all hold special places in my heart with me. I had certain "experiences" with them that will never duplicated again.

You have to be in a certain mood for each one.

Definitely.
Floyd music, already requires one to be in a certain mood.
Then it seems like each album is a subset of that mood.

Is this board loading slow for anyone else?
Only seems to happen on this board.

I believe that song (One of these days) is the only Floyd song that Nick Mason sings all of the lead vocals.

Which of course is only 12 words, but still..

No love for the Syd Barrett-Floyd? Their debut was a psychedelic masterpiece.

1. Animals
2. Dark Side of the Moon
3. The Piper at the Gates of Dawn
4. Wish You Were Here
5. The Division Bell

I was just listening to Umagumma last week, which is one of my favorites along with Piper, More soundtrack, Relics and Saucerful. I would have been a big fan even if there had never been a DSOTM or anything afterwards...
