I don't care if its "harmless", it was in my storage building with my kids toys and where they play sometimes.

What was the weapon of choice?

They're mean too, had one 6' or so. It hit the glass if you got too close.
I don't agree with killing it, but whatever you think you need to do for your children.

My .410 crack barrel. I was fine with leaving him alone but my wife was freaking out. Don't care what you say, I like sleeping with her and that snake being on the loose was bad for business.

Why kill the thing? Some of you tough guys are the biggest pussies.

Good choice of weapon.
That's a big bastard.

I explained that already. I'm fine with snakes, its the boss lady that isn't. The funny thing is my youngest thinks snakes are cool, but my oldest is freaked out by them as much as my wife. He calmed down once I let him shoot it with a water gun.

We get it, you're not afraid of snakes.
But the guy was watching out for his kids. I'd kill that sumbitch 10 times out of 10 if I had kids and I had any slight fear of their safety in their play area.

Snakes in the house area get killed. Snakes elsewhere get a pass.

I don't kill harmless ones. I teach my kids all are harmful though. As much as they explore the woods around my house I'd rather them be afraid of all snakes. When they get older then they can learn the differences

Couldn't agree more ftf. I let my little girl see me move a snake away from the house and she wanted to touch it too so I let her. Regretted it after I thought about it. Don't want my 3 year old trying to play with one, which is what it looked like I was doing.

My 4yo thinks snakes are cool, we found a green grass snake not long ago and we talked about snakes and how they were dangerous. We petted it and played with it until he decided to to mosy on down the road. A 12" grass snake is a whole nother kettle of fish compared to a 5.5' rat snake.

I don't kill them unless they're poisonous but if it was sharing space with the kids, a swift execution was the correct call. Good choice on the weapon too.

It was apparently a quick end for him also. I've killed a lot of snakes in my day and most will wriggle and writh around for a while after you get'em. This one never moved after the blast from the gun. Except for the nerves from the kids poking it with a stick and shooting it with the water gun
Here's another pic, that's my 80lb catahoula sniffin it. He was as nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rockin chairs
