We got the ball with 7:30 to go, and gave it back to them after throwing-if I'm not mistaken-6 times and getting a lucky 3rd down DPI call to convert. We promptly threw three more incompletions and gave them the ball back w/more than 5:00 to go with all their timeouts and a two score lead. Why don't you bleed clock at that point?

Why throw half a dozen passes that barely shave 90 seconds? Those are high-risk plays for starters. Secondly, your QB's having another sub-optimal performance. Thirdly, your running game has been absolutely pulverizing A&M in the 2nd half.

What was the thinking behind this series for LSU? We won the game, but was anyone else mystified by the calls?

Don't forget that they snapped the ball at least twice on that drive with plenty of time left on the play clock where they could have milked the game clock a little more.

Just Les being Les. Don't ever try and figure out the why. Just accept the win and move on.

I thought the rant wanted Les to stop running into 9-10 aggie defenders in the box. he does just that and now everyone is pissed

Well it was a legit PI call, if the A&M defender doesn't grab Beckham's arm, that's a TD. It was a 5 point lead and the coaches were being aggressive. They called plays that they believed would work and they would have if a better throw would have been made to the TE.

This board has been complaining about not being aggressive and taking advantage of teams stacking the box, well LSU does that and you still complain.

Les reads the Rant. He was tired of being hammered on the interwebz about not throwing enough. Now we are hammering him for throwing too much.

I said the exact same thing....run the damn play clock to below 5 seconds at least before you throw the ball. Miles is a clock management moron. That is the only explanation....no explanation.

Meh, it kind of makes sense to go ahead and pound them though when it's that late in the game and they were tired as hell. Last thing those defensive guys want to see if Copeland leading through a hole.

Bet you weren't saying that when LSU scored a TD seconds before halftime

didn’t understand that either, and didn’t understand all the throwing yet NO throws in the redzone? But i think Miles is at a loss what to do. Miles wants to throw but when your QB can’t hit the side of a barn, all rational goes to shite.

Maybe he's been reading these blogs and what he did should make a lot of you experts happy. You guys deserve Tuberville. I'll stay happy with Miles

Well it was either this or just punt it on first down.

I'm glad they went with plan B

So would you guys still question the playcalling if LSU went 3 and out that series with 3 straight runs up the middle, giving the ball back to A&M with good field position?

Do you respond to every comment on this board that questions anything Miles does in this fashion? Has anyone in this thread really been anti Miles or something.

Do you think it was a good decision to not milk the play clock at that point in the game?

This. If the defense is strongly expecting a run, why not throw a safe pass. If the pass would have been completed to Jacobs, the drive would have been extended and a&m wouldn't stack the box as much. Leaving room for the running game.
