The better question is what's going on with our special teams in general. Coverage and the individual play of Wing and Alleman have been disappointing to say the least.
Makes me wonder about our new special teams coach.

On punts, last year's gunners were Mathieu and Brooks. Cannot replace them immediately and expect the same results.
I don't even know who is on kickoffs now.

if it makes y'all feel any better bama has had a few herp derp moments in coverage too. Landon Collins has blocked a punt and christion jones has a KO return for TD, but the coverage itself has given up some big plays in KO and PR

We are missing TM7, Ron Brooks[NFL], and Clayborne[NFL], that's 3 with speed and presence for the ball that we do not have. Jalen, etc, are good, but just freshmen.

I remember when Blue got hurt and KO coverage suffered, previously. Don't know if thats the issue, but losing one player can totally change the unit. I know Blue is hurt again, just don't know if its the same problem, this year.

I'm more worried about our punters. When we needed a 40 yarder against A&M, he boots it out the endzone. When we needed a 60 yarder he shanked it out of bounds for 35 yards. Disappointing to say the least.
The USC return guy was good too

Downed inside the 20, or more specifically, the 10 is the big issue. We don't have Mathieu and Brooks down there fair catching the punts themselves inside the 5 yard line like last year. Several times early this year Wing thought he had pinned a team back deep, and the ball just hit the ground and bounced into the endzone. Our gunners aren't getting down field quick enough.

On the USCe punt return I think a lot of that was on Mingo and Reid. Looked like either could've made the tackle right after it was fielded but they looked at one another and said "yours" at the same time.

It seems like Wing and Alleman have lost their swagger. Remember in ot last year at bama he laughed when saban called the TO
