Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints
The Saints showed some interesting new things on defense against the Eagles last Monday night, and the Falcons should take notice. New Orleans defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo finally lined up his scheme and personnel, sending linebackers on blitzes from different levels and harassing Michael Vick throughout Philly's blowout loss. Of course, Atlanta's offense is more solid and its offensive line is far stronger, but as much as Matt Ryan has developed this season, he's still balky when you send pressure right up the A-gaps. The key to an upset, if the Saints are going to accomplish that feat, is to balance pass rush with coverage against the Falcons' receivers -- they're the best in the NFL at winning one-on-one matchups. Call us crazy, but we're riding along with the Saints' recent momentum and saying that New Orleans will do just that.
Pick: Saints 31. Falcons 28

The only thing that scares me is if they get that bowling ball of a rb turner going. That litte girl who is becoming a youtube hit for being a beast of a rb could probably get us for 100 yards rushing.

Hopefully hawthorne makes a difference and spags continues his different approach of blitzing like he did vs the eagles.

The thing I am most worried about is if it comes down to a game winning FG of more than 20 yards...will Hartley make it? Good god hes terrible lately

Hartley is money from distance. It's the short FGs that worry me.

But back to the defense: maybe Spags didn't do these things earlier in the season because his OLBs were Shanle and Herring...

I am 100% Agreed. And lets not forget he didnt have a LB coach either. Im sure its hard to implement a scheme when your missing the coach for the weakest link on your defense.

he's missed one from under 40, 1 from about 47 (against GB) and one from 50+.

Bottom line is Hartley is money, except when he's not.

Yeah the key to the saints stopping Ryan is when they send those blitzes like they did against the eagles they must hit him, if not he will destroy our D. I dont care if they dont get the sack, but hit him enough then hes gonna get rattled.

Taper your expectations with that defense. Yes they looked good, but that Eagles O-Line is god awful.

He's not a very good deep ball QB

I do think the defense will do better with the new OLB rotation, but Cam Jordan just manhandled that guy (Demetrius) in a way that shouldn't be possible at the NFL level.

Falcons Oline has been susceptible to giving up pressure on Ryan from teams who aren't even elite at generating pressure.

I have noticed that.

Hopefully Cam Jordan can build on the momentum. He's already elite in run defense, if he can be any sort of pass rusher, it'll be huge.

The pass rush will be the #1 key for a Saints Victory. The #2 will be keeping Turner under a 100.and The #3 will be stopping the 2 and 3 blown assignments from the corners and safety that we have a game
