Newcastle always worrys me, since those guys love the extracurricular and put in extra on the tackles when they play Arsenal. The last few matches the guys have been thrown off their game against them.
Oddly enough I'm more hopeful now than I was going into the match.

I expected to be throttled. The guys showed some effort with the press, and some attacking drive. There was something with Eze and Ode.

I was worried they had no chance against Atleti, but now think they can actually score goals.

As for the league there are tough fixtures ahead for both clubs. They need to keep the attacking mindset going though, because Goal Differential could be the deciding factor. Need to score multiple goals each match till the end.

I don't think you'll get more than 60' out of Odegaard. Then I assume Eze moves into the role

Just in time for the Martinelli-Gyokeres pairing

But Martinelli as a sub against tired legs isn't a bad option.
I'm looking for Eze and Kai to do something in attack, since its a new wrinkle. Need anyone to bring something really, since its been barren lately.
How long are we realisticly thinking Ode can last? And at what level?

And yes, don't let emotions get the better of you and pick up early cards.
Mosquera against Doku makes me nervous. But he might be better than Ben White in that regard. Hincapie against Semenyo isn't terrible, but obviously you miss Cala ability going forward.

I don't think we'll have near as much trouble building up today

Will Raya play long ball? Will Zubi and/or Rice play forward progressive balls? Will the defenders just cycle the ball between themselves?

Pep certainly knows the tactic to pressure Arsenal. Its on the players to execute. Beat the press, don't play scared.
Sunday is scary. Only reason it worked today is because Sporting were more wasteful than Arsenal.
Trossard didn't shoot at goal when the keeper was way off his line, nor did he take it corner flag. Instead dribbled straight into the only defender.
Sporting are tired, but arsenal are such arse in transition its comical.

Rice has been a shell this 2nd half.
I truly think they are just scared to go forward and lose the ball. There's no way Arteta can be coaching them up to go backwards 99% of the time.

The ones that have been trying to dribble are just terrible today. Like someone said, the execution today is as bad as it gets.
35% possession this half...

I'm not sure I've seen Rice involved in the 2nd at all

Raya, Zubimendi with the bulk of the ball, then attackers turning it over going forward
I've had it with the midfield. They all play so damn scared. This is zero fun to watch these days.

Turn and take the space, stop going backwards as your first decision
Both sides look bad this half. I guess that is advantage Arsenal.

Sporting defenders might be getting tired. They are making bad pass after bad pass and getting run past by dribblers.
The passes in transition and the attacking third are so bad. Guys not finding feet when they aren't even under pressure.
The final 10 minutes of the half are what we've seen from Arsenal lately. Where they completely forget how to play. Lucky to not concede.
I say that, and then Sporting pick up all the possession, and now a lengthy delay to further kill any momentum

It's infuriating watching how hard it is for the guys to beat a press. Dribble past one guy, make a line skipping pass anything other than standing on the ball slowing down everything to a snails pace only to then inevitably pass backwards.
So far it's looking better. Fair bit of possession and a few counter attacks. Eze doing some solid work dribbling the 1st defender, Martinelli getting past his man. Not as much Madueke and next to no Gyok action.
Rice & Zubi 5 feet in front the CBs and no advancing balls, just sideways and backwards... frustrating

and yeah got to do better with that counter attack they had, be a little selfish there Gyok
Despite the formation that has continually proved to be ineffective, the bottom line is the players need to step up. Get the result, plain and simple.
This is going to be another ugly one isn't it. Those 3 up top together have been abysmal.
