I'm sure it will be a visual treat but I doubt Bay will have done a good job with the plot ie what happened to Shia, how the autobots saved the world 3 times and we still betrayed them etc etc

Sounds like humans are hunting down the Autobots for their metal until the Decepticons pull yet another invasion, at which point the Autobots have to save the people that were just hunting them down. The only thing difference between this one and the last one is instead of shipping them all into space, humans are hunting them down this go around.

Throw any plot in there. Who cares. Just make it entertaining and I'm all set. Looks great.

For some people the plot is a big part of their entertainment factor. For you not so much and that's fine.
I loved the 1st transformers but my enjoyment level has gone down every sequel. The special effects and fights that blew me away in the first, weren't really improved upon or that different.
Maybe that changes this movie.

So you can buy monster robots destroying major cities etc, but if they don't explain Shia dipping out completely it's just all shot to you?

No I'll still enjoy the popcorn flick that it is, but the previews haven't shown me anything that different from the first 3 in that regard.
If it's gonna be the same special effects, I would like for the movie to hold my attention on different levels like plot, characters, humor etc.
Plot doesn't have to be Shia centric. It also means the overall plot of the film which was weak in the last 2.

Part of me wishes that they would show a little more of what the plot is, but for most movies I'd rather experience the plot as it comes in the movie. Then again, I don't see these movies for their plots anyways.

Having read nothing about this upcoming movie but knowing the '80's movie by heart...I would say yes. The shape and fact that it is trying to 'eat' the planet fits. Galvatron looks to be the all silver metal bad guy that transforms into a cannon. In the old movie Galvatron was created by Unicron using the remains of Megatron floating in space (along with other decepticons turning into spaceships) so that fits. One thing missing is Ultra Magnus.

Just got back from seeing Godzilla and there was a preview of the new Transformer movie. The special effects were impressive...much better than the new Interstellar movie.
