That spirit of cooperation needs to energize the global effort to combat climate change, a creeping national security crisis that will help shape your time in uniform, as we are called on to respond to refugee flows and natural disasters, and conflicts over water and food, which is why, next year, I intend to make sure America is out front in putting together a global framework to preserve our planet.

So how/who will our military fight to preserve the planet from climate change?

quote:

You see, American influence is always stronger when we lead by example. We cannot exempt ourselves from the rules that apply to everyone else. We can’t call on others to make commitments to combat climate change if a whole lot of our political leaders deny that it is taking place. We can’t try to resolve problems in the South China Sea when we have refused to make sure that the Law of the Sea Convention is ratified by the United States Senate, despite the fact that our top military leaders say the treaty advances our national security.

So Obama just told China they can do whatever they want because the USA won't since the Senate hasn't ratified the United Nations Law of the Sea Treaty? Wow. Just wow.

Obama is just dangerously anti-American/anti-US Constitution/anti-American sovereignty.

Do you read your own quotes?

How can we tell China to follow the provisions of a Treaty that we won't ratify? What part of that doesn't make sense to you?

So he says he has THE plan to preserve our planet.
Wow.
Can't wait to hear this. I'm surprised this statement that a single human being having such a plan is not all over the news. This is historic. No President has ever put forth such.
This should shake the entire planet to its core. I hope everyone around the world will be listening to this.

I'm sure that statement caused the hearts of the cadets to start racing. They're the front line troops engaging the weather in a battle for Earth's survival. OTOH, maybe some would rather be fighting sea level than fighting the terrorists Obama is now arming.

I actually liked much of that speech, but there are parts that cause me physical pain. Here is one:

"And that’s why I will continue to push to close Gitmo, because American values and legal traditions do not permit the indefinite detention of people beyond our borders. (Applause.)"

Yeah, like if I were president, I'd close Gitmo! It's as if he hasn't been president for over 5 years!

This whole episode makes me feel a little less pissed about having to listen to and shake hands with Al Gore on my Commissioning Day.

I feel sorry for this West Point Class....having to endure this ... even after we kicked their asses at football ... again.

Yes ... I am interested in hearing Obama's plan to "preserve" our planet. After all, he's done such a bang-up job with healthcare and everything else.

Sadly, the Pieces of Shiite that are being held down there ... get much better health care than our Veterans.

Obama is easily the worst and least qualified Commander In Chief in U.S. history.

Hell, Barack, you will not even detain illegals WITHIN our borders.

Campaign promise: Close Gitmo...2014 still open
Campaign promise: Fix the VA system...2014 worse than ever
Campaign promise: Most transparent administration ever.....2014 still waiting for documents for IRS investigation.
"If you like your Dr. you can keep your Dr."
blah blah blah.

His pen must always be out of ink when it's time to sign that order. Weird.

I hate when commencement addresses are political. I know he's not the first POTUS or politician to do it, but the day isn't about you or your agenda. It's about celebrating and recognizing the biggest day in those kids' lives. Save the policy crap for another day.

BTW, I thought the same thing when I watched Bush give a commencement address and he discussed foreign policy.

He basically just told the best and brightest among us that their mission will be humanitarian aid and dealing with civil uprisings that he will blame on global warming.
