Seriously folks, is there anything better?
Just ate an ear and it was absolutely delicious. 25 cents an ear at Walmart right now.

It's the best. Especially from Walmart.

It is the best. Especially from the ones I cut today off the farm.

I just love me some fresh corn. Yes this thread is deserved and warranted.

We're still a couple weeks out up here, but the farmers markets are getting some good stuff from south Bama. Had some last night. Hard to beat

I pulled some out of the garden today. 1 ear didn't make into the house. I ate it in the yard.

It's a meal all by itself.

Picked ten ears yesterday. First year I've grown it. This rain today will make it go along with everything else. Picked a dozen cucumbers and as many squash as well as half a five gallon bucket of rattlesnake pole beans early this morning before the rain.
I drop the corn in simmering water just to heat through, butter salt and pepper.

For a great change of pace, try your corn Mexican street style: roasted on the grill and topped with mayonaise, garlic, cayenne, cotija cheese, and lime.
Wife and daughter were meh for boiled corn with butter and salt (I know), but they can't get enough of Mexican street style.

My farmer informed me that he should be ready in a week. Got 3 sacks on reserve. Cant wait. Nothing better than grilled super sweet corn.

I had a different version on the grill, with mayo, Parmesan and chili powder...

I have to agree with Martini on the corn. Keep it simple. Last week I had 15 ears of corn so I grilled some, made maque choux (plenty on tomatoes too), and boiled some. The boiled corn was the best. Just a little butter and salt.
If you aren't going to use the corn immediately, be sure to run some water over the husks and keep them in a plastic bag to prevent them from drying out. Supposedly the minute corn is picked the sugars start to convert to starches thus the corn begins to lose it's sweetness. Mine sat in the fridge for a few days and it was still fantastic

You know they call corn-on-the-cob "corn-on-the-cob," right? But that's how it comes out of the ground, man. They should call that "corn", and they should call every other version "corn-off-the-cob." It's not like if you cut off my arm you would call my arm "Mitch", but then reattach it and call it "Mitch-all-together."

How'd that taste?
It's good. I have a buddy that prefers his uncooked. He'll shuck and it and eat em straight out the field one after another like a drunk dude at a crawfish boil.

I prefer mine warmed up, but not cooked. Wrap in the husk, in foil, and pop in the oven to roast for 5 or 6 minutes. Or, just put the fresh ear in the microwave for one minute. Then shuck it...awesome.

I eat everything I grow while I'm picking in my garden. I ate most of my sugar snaps just picking a handful and walking around looking at everything else. Dig a potato, rub it clean on your jeans and take a bite like an apple. Great stuff.
