Basically comes down to little screen time so there's a lack of development and then they kill them off.

God...that fricking Mandarin bullshite in Iron Man 3.
I think that Jeff Bridges Obadiah Stane was the best one off villain they have had so far.

I really hope that Ultron comes back for Infinity Wars. I just can't buy that something like Ultron wouldn't back himself up a thousand times over. I just hope that Thanos reactivates him, and then somehow Ultron is able to take over parts of his army through his AI. Maybe make that the cliff hanger of Part 1 where Thanos reawakens him.

I like it.

It would be nice if it was just super badass Ultron fighting. I liked the brief fight between him and Thor. I am sick of the hordes of easily killed robots / aliens.

Possibly but aren't you then taking away from the guy you've been building up for over a decade by the time this comes out?

Iron Man 3-The trailers for this are dark and you’re absolutely pumped. Tony Stark (MCU’s golden boy) is gonna be pushed to his limit by his greatest foe yet, the Mandarin, who from what comic book fans tell you, is actually Iron Man’s arch-nemesis. Sounds cool right? Even better, he’s played by Ben Kingsley, one of the best actors in the business! You’re watching the movie and so far, everything’s awesome. Tony Stark’s doing his thing and the Mandarin is evil and menacing, thanks to Kingsley’s great performance. And after that hype the time comes for our plucky hero to meet this mysterious, diabolical villain. The showdown the world has been waiting for….is nothing but a plot twist about a dumbass, drug-addled actor that’s just pretending to a good villain. Meanwhile, we’ve got Aldrich Killian, the REAL bad guy, thinking he’s hot s***, when in reality he’s a carbon copy of the last two Iron Man villains: Jealous white guy in a suit that hates Tony Stark for stupid reasons. Why they couldn’t just have Iron Man engage in an epic showdown with Ben Kingsley as an updated, modernized Mandarin is truly beyond me.
pretty much nailed it on IM3

the reason Star WArs was so good in teh OT was because Darth Vader was around for all three movies.
The prequels sucked becuase they had disposable villains in each movie, Maul, Dooku, GRievous. Palpatine didn't become a real force until the final one.

Yeah, I remember people telling me they liked that plot twist. I thought it was the dumbest thing they could have done.

I think Thanos is a Darkseid rip-off anyway. Ultron deserved more than he got. Plus I think it would make things feel as if it came full circle, and make it a 3 way battle between Thanos, Ultron, and the Avengers. Maybe have Loki come in as well, but fighting with the Avengers in effort to get the Infinity Gauntlet. Seems like that would wrap it up nicely.

Yeah, I doubt that if they made the Joker an actor people would be cool with it.

part of the problem with Age of Ultron, we knew going in he was going to fail because this is all building towards Thanos. He didn't seem like much of a threat.

I could see Loki fighting along with the avengers once Asgard is destroyed.

Simply the threat of the Infinity Gauntlet against Asguard I think would get Loki teaming up with the Avengers, although I think he might have ulterior motives, like possessing it for himself.

I can see that. Why I think the comic book genre works better on tv than on the big screen.

Decent article that works too hard to advance an overblown narrative.
Basically they only give credit for Loki. Obidiah Stane was an extremely well done villain for the story they were telling. So was Ronan, The Winter Soldier, and Alexander Pierce/Hydrashield.

That's the problem with all of the villains in these movies. They don't scare you.
They need to have some main characters die or have the Avengers fail to save everyone.

There's definitely a villain problem, outside Loki. Though I would like to say that Hammer was an outstanding villain just because Sam Rockwell is outstanding, but he was trapped in possibly the worst Marvel film to date. he doesn't get enough credit for breathing life into that turd.
I actually liked the Ben Kingsley twist, but I'm not a fan of Mandarin in the comics, as I find him to be a relic of a time when casually racist characters were okay. And I like that it shows an ability to use the comics but also not treat them as holy texts. Change things as you need to. I thought the Manadarin switcheroo was the best thing about IM3, other than Tony being actively annoyed by the cute little kid. The problem with IM3 wasn't turning the Mandarin into a joke, but that the power behind the throne was uninteresting. Guy Ritchie was an offbrand Jebadiah Stone... and Tony already beat him. The Mandarin backlash shows, to me, how little flexibility comic fans have when the director moves out of fan service. So tread lightly or there will be backlash.
Going forward, if they use the basics of the Infinity Gauntlet storyline, this gives them a chance to flesh out and make us care about Nebula. She's a minor villain, but it would be nice to see her as a person. But really, they need to do a 180 on Thanos from what we've seen so far.

I'm not a comic guy at all, so them messing with that wasn't really the upsetting part to me. The guy I quoted earlier about nailed it, we had this great build up of what looked to be a great villain.....and then TWIST!! He's really not, its just the same thing you guys saw in the previous 2 movies! OH WE GOT YOU GOOD! From the trailers I thought we were going to get a guy that was going to push Iron Man to the brink, instead it was the same crap.
