Beat a top ten ranked team in a competition:
Sampson did it twice
Beat Argentina 3-0 in the Copa
Beat Brazil 1-0 in the Gold Cup
Arena did it twice
Beat Germany 2-0 in the Confed
Beat Portugal 3-2 in the World Cup
Bradley did it once
Beat Spain 2-0 in the Confed
Jurgy? None.
Has our talent gotten so much worse? No. Our manager has.

He's done less with a better talent pool.

Yet the talent pool around the world is increasing. We are not the only ones getting better.

Just look at concacaf. MLS has increased the talent pool throughout the region. It has helped raise the bar not just for the US but for all the countries in our region.

I agree that our talent pool is deeper, but I think the top 11 is worse now than it was in the Bradley or Arena eras. We are severely lacking creative midfielders and outside backs (I think of Fab as a MF at this point). The Donovan/Dempsey/Beasley/Cherundolo/Onyewu/Jones group has aged out for the most part and our pool between age 24-31 is very weak. We just need to temper our expectations until the group aged 17-23 matures more.

Have we ever had a good LB?
