The EC is doing EXACTLY what the founders intended. New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and all the rest of the major cities should NOT choose the president alone.

Absolutely correct. This is precisely what the electoral college what put in place for. A seemingly solid red map of the US, but a blue outcome due to a few population centers. The framers were smart.
