When pre-ordering something on Amazon (book, game, movie etc), does it actually arrive at your house on the day of it's release?

Mine came three days late. I called to complain and they gave it to me free and a $15 credit

I do, but I have a number that goes straight to a CS rep, in the US, no prompts or wait. If you have issues with third parties or company they use for fulfillment it's much faster.

If you preorder a video game it arrives the day of the release and they give you a set discount (I want to say around 17%).
