Here is an article from the Bogalusa Enterprise of January 13, 1921 about the upcoming spring training: Note the other venues in Louisiana hosting spring training:

Jean Harlow - born March 3, 1911, died June 7, 1937
The original Blonde Bombshell
Jean Harlow, a prominent Hollywood actress known as the "Blonde Bombshell," died on June 7, 1937, at the age of 26. The primary cause of her death was kidney failure, specifically uremic poisoning due to acute nephritis, a condition involving inflammation of the kidneys.

I just spoke with my friend in the Department of War and he says it is extremely unlikey that the Marines have fired into the crowds - much more likeley it was local Pakisani security who fired.

If we're going to talk about baseball players, Moe Berg led an interesting life. He was a catcher in the majors for ten years - traveled to Japan as part of an All-Star team. Secretly photographed Tokyo harbor, and those photos were helpful in the planning of the Doolittle Raid. Later during the war, he was sent into Axis territory to meet with Werner Heisenberg and determine how far along the Nazis were with building an atomic bomb. Before deployment, he underwent schooling in nuclear physics. He carried a weapon and was under orders to kill Heisenberg if it appeared the Nazi's were making progress. He was able to ascertain that Heisenberg was nowhere near developing a weapon.

Interestingly, the 1960 match was not carried live, but was on a one-hour delay. At one point, the local station interrupted to announce that it would display the final score at the bottom of the screen for 10 seconds. I looked away and did not see that score and enjoyed watching the game as if it were live.

Yes, I watched the 1980 match, but also watched the 1960 Miracle while a freshman at LSU.
