I have 5 raised garden beds. I buy starter plants. Because I have little success germinating seeds. I have been doing this for the pass 6 years. This year I tried something a little different I used triple 13 and also bought nature's care bone and blood meal it's a powder form and also this stuff called Alaska fish fertilizer has anyone heard or tried this organic fertilizer? I have been using it since last year just on my Carolina Reaper pepper plants and it makes them Boom. This is the first time I'm trying it on my vegetable garden. Has anyone had luck with this stuff?

I haven't used none and blood meal before I haven't Even heard of it. But that Alaska fish fert is some bad shite. It works wonders I had plants dying and used it. And it made them produce a lot of tomatoes and Bell Peppers

We used to go out and catch a bunch of trash fish like carp and buffalo and put a chunk with a couple inches of dirt over it under each plant. Best free fertilizer there is.

How many times in a growing season y'all had to do this.

My grandfather used to do this. One small fish ever hole. He had to use lime I believe, animals would dig the fish and plant up if not.

Smash, be careful. You can over fertilize the plants by putting too many nutrients in the soil. Learned that through my mom who's a master gardener. I saw it with my own eyes one time on tomato plants. Bone meal works very well.

Bone meal is great. Especially for tomatoes which like them some calcium. I've used so much bone meal over the last few years that my soil test came back with extremely high levels of calcium in my soil. So I skipped it this year.

Just make sure to not over fertilize. And make sure you aren't deficient on anything.

ETA: a lot of times, a real good compost mix will provide just about everything your plants need.

For the last couple of years I've dug a 1.5' deep hole and put a fish head in the bottom. I strip all the leaves off the tomato plant except the last couple or so at the top and plant it up to the neck just below the last leaves. Once the plants get established, I'll spread epson salt around the plants. Like others have mentioned, I'd be careful over doing it with too many fertilizers, especially if you didn't do a soil test first.

Bone meal 3-15-0
Blood meal 13-1-.5
Alaskan fish oil 5-1-1

Fan I didn't think you can burn it with this bone meal and blood meal. The fish fertilizer says it won't burn the plants. But I can see that as a lie

We use a combination of compost and miracle grow garden soil. We fertilize with organic fertilizer a few times during the growing period. Organic fertilizer will not burn or is safer to use long as ya dont go all stupid with it. I was taught that ya fertilize like ya put salt or pepper on ya eggs just sprinkle it on. We have had good sucess that way. We also have several garden boxes and we plant them kinda in the square foot technique. When ya put lots of plants close to gether ya gotta add some kinda fertilizer so they can all grow.
