CSB: Spanish conversation with Spaniard ends in "Make Spain Great Again"

This is going to be a CSB so if you don't care then move on down the line.
I'm doing Spanish classes over Skype every day because my work greatly benefits from me learning Spanish. I decide to try out someone from Spain to get a feel for the accent, different words, etc.
So after a few weeks, I'm talking with a ~50 year old well educated gentleman (speaks no english, just spanish and german) and we're discussing European history, the reconquista of Spain from the Muslims, etc. We've gotten into discussion on current politics a little and he's let slip a little that he doesn't like political correctness, and leans right. So I ask him about Catalunyan independence and what he thinks about the general situation in Spain.
Within five minutes he's raving about the 'small minority' of leftist Catalunyan protestors who try and push independence, and how they are mostly recent immigrants to Barcelona from South America or North Africa, (His word was Moors) and that no one seems to care about or study history in Europe, because if they did they'd know that Muslims don't mix with Christians and that the governments in Europe are nuts. Talked about how when he was a kid, on Spanish holidays they'd see the Spanish Flag everywhere, but now the government discourages flying the national flag because it might offend immigrants. Said he sees more foreign flags everywhere when he goes back to his home city than Spanish Flags.
At that point, he started talking about how much he loves Trump, and is hoping for a Spanish Trump to save his country. This was all in Spanish, so it was surreal to hear "Me Encanta el efecto de Donald Trump" etc. Said his whole family and his wife's family were Trump supporters and that, while they thought Brexit was nuts, understood about the desire to halt immigration. At some point he started talking about the evils of George Soros, and at that point I realized there must be a Spanish Rush Limbaugh somewhere. It was a conversation I could have had with somebody in a bar in College Station. Well, minus the part where he started talking about the LGBTQIAATQP++ agenda in a negative light.
Anyway, thought I'd share, was quite an interesting conversation and a good reminder that the worldview of Trump is not exactly how the media likes to paint it, even in places like Europe.

Bring Franco back. He will straighten out this Marxist scum.

That's awesome! On another note is there a site you recommend for learning Spanish?

If a catholic country like Spain, which was actually ruled by the Muslims before fighting them back, has yielded to liberalism and globalism, then Europe is lost. I read European history and I think, what the frick happened to those men that they welcome the invaders now? Of course, I think the world wars and general 20th century strife and bloodshed are what happened to them.
I think Europe is lost. It'll take a few more decades.

italki.com.
There is no better way. I'm at an ILR 2+ level after about 8 months, only spend 1 hour a day mon-fri on Spanish, plus some podcasts in the car for listening practice. After I get up to an ILR 4, I'll probably start on Portuguese.

The problems are in every western country. One of the Spanish Alt-Right groups has a website with news articles about SJWs in Spain trying to rename streets in Madrid that might be 'offensive' and tear down statues of great Spanish Generals and heroes for the same reason. It's fricking disheartening.

I wonder the same thing. Spain, England, Germany, Italy, France used to be full of strong aspiring men and national pride, and paved their way to modern civilization, industrialization, and imperialism. They have become cucked beyond belief.
I do think WW2 killed so many good men over there the alpha genes were largely eliminated

Between WWI, WWII, the Spanish flu, Franco, Stalin...that's a lot of dead people.
