Do You Know Anyone Who Has Ever Been Shot?

King's story made me think about this for some reason. I know several people who have been shot, some were killed others were seriously injured, but these are two situations that involved people I knew the best.
- My next door neighbors had gone to Florida and their daughter, who just graduated HS was at home with a friend staying with her. My dad and I was outside, it was early evening. All of a sudden we heard a loud BAM sound. We looked around and my dad thought that maybe it was someone who was looking under the hood of their car and that it was just really loud.
It must have been at least a minute after we heard the sound the girl staying with my neighbor's daughter comes running out the house hysterically saying "she shot herself! She shot herself!" My dad opened the front door and yelled to my mom to call 911 right away, ___________ is shot" and I follow him to the house next door. She is in the recliner slumped over, blood everywhere, it was coming out of her head. My mom was trying to call the other girl down.
The police and ambulance show up, they checked her out and put her on a stretcher, threw the white sheet over her, with just her arm hanging out lifeless. The last image I have is of her being put in the ambulance, her arm hitting the door. My dad left to go to the hospital and my mom had to call her parents. I remember her just telling them "Yall need to come home. Something has happened to _________ and they need to come back right away.
Evidently, some guy was calling them and telling them he was coming over to "get them" so she went get her dad's gun. She knew how to use it, he use to bring her to the gun range. It is unknown if she thought it was unloaded or what, but she pointed to her head and told the girl "watch, I am going to shoot myself", pulled the trigger.. Nother.. The second time she did it.. BAM..
Several years later, on a 4th of July, one of the son's of the neighbors who lived on the other side of me was shot in the face. He was two or three years older than me, but we hung out together all the time and had done so since we were kids. He had gone to a friend's house. He was laying on the guy's bed, with his arm holding up his head, reading a magazine. The guy whose house he was at, pulled a gun out of the closet and pointed it at him. He told him "man, stop messing around" and the guy told him "don't worry, it's not loaded" so he pointed at him again, pulled the trigger and BAM.. It went off.
What saved the guy's life was his hand being up holding his head up. It took most of the impact, but he was in the hospital for a long time (a few months). He had to have reconstructive surgery, he had to learn how to use his hand and top part of his arm again.

My grandpa twice. Both times on Christmas. Once in Nam and once by a stray bullet inside a bar. Nam fricked him up is why he was in a bar on Christmas. Years later we're at my aunts for Christmas and my dumbass cousin doesn't think about this and lights a water dynamite and tosses it behind him. Saw my 65 year old grandpa dive in the bushes and come out wanting to beat his 25 year old arse

I know a guy that got shot in the head with a .22 by one of his employees. He survived.

A very good friend of mine was shot with an AR-15.
It's less dramatic than it sounds. His dumbass was sighting in a new scope, and decided to target an old license plate tacked to flat cut surface of a big log.
2nd shot came right back at him. It's still lodged in his forearm.

My next door neighbor in law school was shot in the stomach in mid-city for his groceries. Had a colostomy for a year.

Yep. Good friend got shot on July 4th at about 2am. I lived 4 houses down and we had just gone inside 15 min before he was shot. I thought someone had popped off some fireworks and the next day found out he was shot in the arm.
