Just started the Dark Tower series

Been looking for a new series to read. This will be my first time reading the books. Have made it to the part where he picks up the little kid from Earth. So far I like it a lot. King's style and pacing seem good. Very interested to see how this goes. Does the series stay strong for all the book?. I have some very lengthy over seas flights coming up so hopefully I can knock out the first 2 or 3 books.

It might get slow a time or two if your not super interested in what's going on. I loved every minute of it.

There's 7 of them so you'll probably like some more than others, like most people. You'll have a strong opinion of wizard and glass about liking it or not. It's a great series. Just enjoy the journey.
Also the last two books, maybe even the last three, can't remember been years since i read them, will get super duper ridiculous shake your head crazy. So you should be aware Stephen king wrote those after he was hit by a van and almost died. But they are still good. As a series is pretty strong.

Wizard and Glass is one of my favorite books of all time.

First 4 are great, 5th is half terrible, half great, 6th book is terrible, and 7th book is mostly terrible.

First four are good enough that it's worth reading despite the poor ending IMO, despite how I just dogged them. King didn't want to leave them unfinished since he had the near death experience, but he banged them out too fast (and with too much of the accident tainting his viewpoint) and the end suffered badly.
He actually wrote a companion story a few years later after he finished the series called "The Wind through the Keyhole" that is very good, so it was more just a case of bad timing and bad luck.

First four books are fantastic, with Wizard and Glass being my favorite. Wind Through the Keyhole is also great. After the 4th book, the story starts to go off the rails somewhat.
You'll have a strong opinion about the ending of the series where King basically insults the reader for wanting an ending to a saga they spent so much time reading. You'll enjoy the ride though.

Drawing of the Three was my favorite, I think the series is worth picking up if you are interested. Plus, there are themes in this series that ring throughout the King universe if you read a lot of his stuff.

That's very true. The main antogonist is the same person in The Stand as in TDT. The Taheen also are seen in multiple books. Those are just some of my favorites.

I read some of the series recently after seeing previews for the movie. The first book was my favorite. It had a different feel than most Stephen King books. And it gave just enough detail to the world and the magic in it to tantalize my imagination. Loved the setting. And for the same reason I really liked the Wizard and the Glass, at least the part that was Roland telling his story. I liked parts of the second book, but I found it to be a disappointment after the first. It just didn't capture the same feel. And the Wastelands I found to be worse still. A decent read but nothing great. After I had binged through those four I just didn't feel like continuing, and I guess from the responses here I didn't miss much.

Finished the first book. That ending was intense, and sort of what I expected but not really if that makes sense.
