Sigh. Time to repeat this again.

The Economist Magazine - a conservative (as in, a rag Margaret Thater read cover to cover) British mag once did an article on "life in Middle America, what I didn't realize until I became the Economist correspondent for the USA and traveled to Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Small Town Ohio, etc".

The economist reporter said it is impossible to describe how nice everyone is. All the kids have paper routes and all the dads coach little league. (Not all of course I am slightly joking and exaggerating, but that in a broad stroke is what the reporter wrote, everyone kind of gets along and sincerely likes and helps everyone. Everyone goes to some Methodist or Catholic or Lutheran Church. Few are in any basements having discussions about Fascism, Globalism, Marxism, etc). That is not the "brew/recipe" for....a revolution.

Two - The economist report said imagine a house where everyone has their own bedroom and one is left over for the guests (guest bedroom). There are not one but really two living rooms (livig and family). And maybe even a basement. Hot water all the time, spews out with no interruptions. A stocked kitchen. Lawn and garden in good shape. All the teeth of the family are in good shape. Each drivers age person has their own car. And place in the garage.

Ask a European who lives like that and he will say a very lucky person but more likely a big businessman, a government minister, someone who inherited, a extremely lucky and trained professionl like the best cardiac doctor in town.

In Des Moines Iowa this house - which the reporter visited - belonged to a guy who worked for the post office. His wife worked as a secretary and part time no less. And all the kids love sports and are college bound.

In a country where the guy who delivers your mail has a big house and good teeth, there won't be a revolution. No matter crazy websites (who know better, they are just trying to fool you for hits, are you really not realizing this by now, do you fall for the emails from Nigeria?) say.

Even if Trump is impeached there won't be no damn revolution. Goodness gracious. Trump will make a TV Network to play on grievances, some letter to the editor will be writer, some marches will take place. But the military is not about to start plowing down the residents of Omaha and the people of Omaha are not about to take up whatever rifles they have to challenge the Navy Seals.

You're under the mistaken assumption the military would always side with the government.

How would one determine who is friend and who is enemy in this hypothetical war?

Please give me a realistic scenario of a take over of our military that replaces the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

I've been asking that in most of these threads. You need a standing enemy to have a war, and other than Antifa types (who would probably scatter at the first shot), who are these guys going to fight, exactly?

Wow. Way to engage in political discussion. I was replying seriously to you dcbl. I thought there could be some kind of dialogue about the likelihood of all this, but, whatever.

Who said anything about a takeover? Pro-tip. Go read the officers commissioning oath. Quite a few of us take that seriously.

I'm not following you, are you saying that the officers oath makes you disloyal to the government because up above you said it would be mistaken to assume the government would be followed?

Look, I get excited about serious political discussion

I love to learn and actually appreciate it when I learn something from a reasonable adversary on an issue

But I've made my mind up about this one

We'll have to agree to disagree on this issue

No, I'm saying if the government ordered me to fire on US citizens I am oath bound to ignore that order because it is illegal and immoral. I am not alone in the officer corps.
