Are you into food and/or travel?

food, not so much travel, but I'll read anything that can hold my interest

Check out The Devil's Picnic by Taras Grescoe. One of the more fascinating books I've ever read. Think a more libertarian, more extreme Anthony Bourdain.

The Road is good but... such. a. downer. It's such a downer I think it gave me Down's syndrome.

Or you could just hit yourself in the head with a hammer and save time.
Just kidding, sort of. I've read all three and am unlikely to do so again with any of them. Blood Meridian is the best of the three, easily. The Road is mediocre McCarthy IMO, and I really disliked Catcher in the Rye. All three are a challenge to read because they are so bleak.

Thanks for the heads up. Started reading The Martian instead

The Martian is entertaining, but you should give 11/22/63 a shot afterwards.
