Should next season go poorly but we have commitments/high probability of signing the elite class everyone thinks we will, do we keep O to save the class? Or do we cut bait with O and say to hell with this elite class?

Letting go of O would improve our recruiting class

If Aranda stays, I don’t think it will change a whole lot.

O is a phenomenal recruiter... if he wouldve just left the offense alone

We will lose offensive recruits either way. If SE stays the OC, would you want to sign on for that? Or if we start over with coaches next year, do you sign with a school, with who you don’t even know who’s hands your future career is in? Answer to both questions is no.

I was almost fully on board the O train because of this very reason when they were still "deciding" who would replace Miles.

But I've realized it's a shaky position to take.

The fallout from Florida firing McElwain was extremely minimal in terms of recruits. I don't see a single one that decommitted in early November (he was fired 10/29).
And Mullen signed two of their top 5 recruits after he came on board.

It would suck to have it go down in 2019 when the LA crop is supposed to be so good. But we just CANNOT afford to continue turning in mediocre results for the sake of continuity. One day the recruits will dry up, better to still have a stocked cupboard and a coach who knows what to do with them than one possible "off" year, even if it means the potential strengthening of our rivals.
Bottom Line - Keeping 4 or 5 guys signed is NOT worth keeping O around.

So you are saying the SE/O experiment fails and should we choose to keep them because of a recruiting class? How likely are these kids to commit if that happens?

If you are worried about that class then this is the year to cut bait. Most will sign in December.

I think we would still be able to sign some of them because some kids commit to a school rather than a coaching staff, but a full staff change will certainly run off a few recruits. It’s an interesting question I heard being talked about on the radio today.
