What should the MLS do about the all star game

No big stars due to the World Cup
Due to the mls schedule arguably the biggest name is sitting it out.
They either need to move it to end of season which would mean it has to be east vs west.
Or keep it around this time to get top European league teams in it but have a all star break like the mlb.
It’s almost like the mls wants to not be good

I don't see much of a problem. Normally, I think they would take a short break, but they already took one at the start of the World Cup.

I think MLS should do an East vs West game. I think at this point MLS has enough names and a big enough fan base for it. The current game is a lose lose for the league. If MLS wins it’s cuz it’s preseason and the opponent is playing scrubs. If MLS loses, its cuz they suck.
Also, whichever team comes is asked a 1000 times about the talent level and growth of the league, it’s very cringe.

It looks really bad when you are selling tickets based on come see Ronaldo and Josef or come see zlatan take on his old team and neither happens.

Im a big fan of the current format. Some great games and drama have come from it over the years. If the world cup throws a wrench in the plans every now and then, oh well.
Hell, one of the best all star games was against Bayern Munich right after the world cup 4 years ago.

From the outside you have an entire league taking on a team from a league that is much better. The mls losing makes it look weak if it’s best can’t beat a team from another league.

That’s basically what it is.
I wouldn’t know enough of the players to care about an East vs West game.
I think it’s one of the more entertaining all star games even on a down year.

I think some of you assume the soccer world takes it seriously. They don't. They know it's a fun, entertaining friendly and the result doesn't matter. If anything its a positive as it draws attention to the league and maybe gives a homegrown all star a chance to show what he can do. No one would watch or attend an East/West game. Just ask the NFL.

If MLS keeps doing it with European clubs. Only way it should be done is at the end of the year when European clubs are on winter break and one comes over to the states and has a warm weather camp in Florida. Have the game at the new Miami stadium

No competitive European side is disrupting their league schedule to come play our trash. No first teamers would ever play. Not all leagues even have pronounced breaks. And breaks are for rest, not a match that provides Europeans nothing of value at all.
