Any suggestions. Just had to replace 250 feet of St. Aug that died off due to root rot. Based on the fact that nut sedge is starting to pop up in the area i'm am assuming the yard is staying too moist. Neighborhood has a very high water table so that makes sense. Any suggestions? Yard gets full sun if that matters.

This/\. If you live in N.O. like your profile shows, get in touch with someone who gets material from the spillway as it has silt and more nutrients in it than just plain sand. You want to do this soon since fall is approaching, or wait until next spring and have the spring/summer months to allow the grass to grow through it. You don't want to put too much at one time as that will kill what's left of your lawn. Maybe just a coupe inches and let some of the blades poke through.
I did this to a lawn when I live in N.O. East and it took a couple summers and several loads of spillway dirt to get the job done.

I was told never get anything from the spillway as it’s full of torpedo grass. Am I wrong?

Sounds like you have weeds anyway. You're gonna have to do weed control but I've fixed my backyard over the past 2 years with spillway sand.

Weeds can be controlled torpedo grass cannot. That’s why I was always told to avoid spillway sand. Will look in to adding some sand though.

Aerating will help out also before you put any sand out. And yes stay away from any silt or riversilt.
