When trying to get a recruit to chose between Alabama and us, you MUST consider the monthly stipend they will get at both schools. Unless they bleed purple and gold or want to stay close to home, they will not only consider championships but stipends to be there. Why give them any advantage against us? PAY THE DAMN KIDS!!!

Allowed Stipends are based on the cost of living in the state of the university as reported by the university. The second this went into effect, the state of Alabama’s cost of living tripled according to the university. LSU refuses to stoop to their level. Aka Bahnsening.

ETA: I know Bahnsen himself doesn’t make this decision however he has established the culture that LSU will never use any loopholes to our favor. So ultimately he is partly responsible.

Don't ALL student athletes get the stipend? I think they do and that's more the reason LSU doesn't want to increase it.

Then we are fricking stupid!!! This is a game and the people playing the game the best WIN!!!

Literally not playing the same game as Bama is as stupid as challenging a person to a fist fight, that guy says "ok lets fight but just a heads up I am bringing a gun to the fight and I intend on using it!!" You get to the fight you throw up your fists your opponent pulls out the gun he told you he was bringing and shoots your arse dead!!!" But the consolation is that on your grave stone is written "but he fought fair - RIP" You won the morality fight but lost the War, smart going chief!!!

Lol mid tier pac 12 schools (not in California) get $3900 a month. No way the LSU Stipend is only $400

I mean that doesn’t sound too far off. Louisiana is dirt cheap to survive in.. you don’t need much.

It's a couple hundred dollar gap. It's not the reason for the difference in the programs.

It was posted here a few days ago. It's not much more than that.

I think you're confusing annual amounts (Pac12) with monthly amounts. Alabama's is one of the highest in the country and it's $6k.

This is a little outdated, but here were the 2015-2016 numbers. LINK

I have mentioned this several times before and it is one of many factors that we are behind the 8 ball on.

If you aren't committed to being the best in every single facet, then you will end up not first at the end of the season.
