Hypothetical: a rookie signs up for a league last minute, and say it is an hour before the live draft. What game plan and research strategy would you think gets him most prepared?

-????

Will using a selection strategy of 'highest rated player on the board' ever turn out a good team?

Is there any recommendations that always seem to ring true, like 'Never draft a kicker until after the 7h round' or 'Once someone drafts the first Defense, then a run on all the top 10 Defense is coming"?

Should you avoid taking your NFL fandom to draft night, so overrating and over reaching Doesn't tend to happen.

Is It better to coordinate all your Bye Weeks to fall on the same day or have them spread out?

Draft a player you don't need for the sole purpose of trade bait?

At what # of teams does the talent pool get too thin to Field proper roster? What's the sweet spot for sizes of league?

Ever gamble picking a back up player and sitting on him only because you know the starter is injury prone? (This is probably the same types that will hold a knee-blown superstar on his bench all year praying for a miracle return.

So PPR means the high volume receivers and elite screen backs have their value increased a little compared to standard??

Draft best available according to cheat sheet. If you have to go down 3-5 spots to avoid stacking at one position that’s fine. Wait until the last 2 rounds for K and Def.

Don’t reach for home team players, or go for it if that’s who you want to root for.

I ignore bye weeks.

Taking backup running backs is termed “handcuffing” it protects your major investment at the top of drafts. If you haven’t done any research don’t worry about it. Focus on best available.

PPR- point per reception. Greatly increases value for WRs and some RBs. Use a PPR cheat sheet

Make sure backups don’t have same bye weeks as your studs. Unless the talent gap is huge.

This. Find a tiered cheat sheet on the interwebs and follow it. I believe someone on this site actually made a good one.

Don’t over valued your home team players (let the others in your league do that) and don’t under value rival players.

Don’t be in a rush to get a QB. There are like 15 good scorers at the position (No need to reach early for Mahomes or Rodgers when guys like Wentz, Cam, Ryan, Rivers will be available middle rounds. Also look at the draft board bc you could wait even longer if a lot of QBs went early to other teams. People will want to complete their active roster before picking a backup QB.

Wait on K and Def (I try to get a good weather/dome K)
