At LSU in the late 90s/early 00s, I played against the top LSU women’s basketball players at the rec center (this was pre- Semoine and Sylvia) and i was as good as they were. It never really got to this bc it’s just rec center ball but if I would’ve really got physical on either side of the ball then there would’ve been nothing they could have done to stop me and I saying that as a person just under 6’ that in my prime could barely dunk on a 10’ if all the stars aligned  For more context, I sat the bench for a 5A basketball team.

Their handles and technique were very good however they simply couldn’t run/jump/push with the men on the court. Simply put they were just overpowered.

I saw the video showing the impact. I think saying he isn’t badly injured but also saying he was probably hurting the following day are both true statements. The man got bumped in the chest by a 2 ton vehicle. I’m sure he has a big arse bruise on his torso and probably hurting moving around for several days.

Do you feel the same way about Clarence Thomas? ZERO percent chance he would have gotten Thurgood Marshall's former seat, if he were White.

Like it or not, Biden himself torpedoed Jackson’s credibility bc he said that the next judge would only come from a small subset of the available pool of candidates.
Yeah I’ve heard this before. Magic pill that solves everything.
Looking at CFB now, there really is no such thing as a rebuilding year any more. It’s basically become who made wise portal/NIL choices and who didn’t.
7 posts in and no Seinfeld reference. I’m disappointed

This. In the officer's phone video you can clearly hear the other woman telling her to drive as the agent at the driver's door attempted to gain access.

The more I watched the video the more I come to the conclusion that the person outside yelling “Drive, baby, Drive” is why the driver of the vehicle hit the gas. W/o her yelling that, I question if anything would have happened.
quote:

And secondly, isn’t it reasonable to think that this aggressive posture and comment to the officer influenced his mindset? Isn’t it more likely that the officer saw the driver’s intent as aggressive and not simply fleeing because of this comment?

In the video, she tells the driver to drive and then she did. If she doesn’t say anything, it’s reasonable to believe the driver is still alive today.
quote:

(3) The offender ignored officers commands to get out of the vehicle (4) The offender drove her vehicle at him and hit him.

You should add between 3 and 4. “The driver’s partner yelled at the driver to drive”

I believe the woman outside of the vehicle is possibly the most culpable for her death because she prompted the driver to go.
quote:

Thats my position too. You're much better off dodging a vehicle than trying to shoot the driver thats coming at you. That shite only works in the movies.

If she was willing to run one person over would she not be willing to run more people over? This officer seemed to do both options. The driver seemed to think this was a game and imo you realized real life has different consequences than video games and movies.
After watching the video, the woman outside of the vehicle yelled at the driver to drive at the moment that the ICE agent was standing in front of the vehicle after circling it (I believe he circled the vehicle in order to video document it). The driver hit the gas right after her instruction. Imo, the lady outside is the reason this situation escalated so quickly.
quote:

She definitely didn't help.

Does the driver even drive forward if the woman outside doesn’t tell her to drive? The video seems pretty straightforward in that the driver drives forward after the woman outside tells her to drive.
quote:

There was definitely an attempt to do harm. ...but I think it was just opportunistic. He walked in front of the vehicle (which was a mistake) and she jumped on the opportunity to try to kill him.

The woman outside said to drive before the driver started accelerating forward. She also said to drive while what looked like she was attempting to get in which was weird.
The more I watch the video, I feel there is a possibility that whole thing was to entice ICE agents to come close to the vehicle to eventually do some harm to them. Parking the vehicle in the street blocking traffic knowing that would draw attention. Then the outside the vehicle person actually trying to get the ICE agent to come closer to them by antagonizing him and then when he was close she gave the command her partner to drive into him.

That would also explain why she is so visibly upset afterwards.
If she was willing to run over this person who’s to say she wasn’t willing to run over other people. She was operating a vehicle extremely recklessly with lots of people standing around in close proximity. Her partner clearly yelled for her to drive knowing the other guy was in front of the vehicle.

Imo she thought the officers were going to stand down and let her go. The two of them clearly thought this was funny and were taunting the agents.
quote:

Because there was never any consequences in their worlds growing up.

I will say this. It appeared to me that the two of them thought this was a game and thought the officers would just let them drive away.
Agent was holding the phone at first and then midway it looks like he attaches the phone to a holder on his clothes.
quote:

That's what makes it so reckless. There were people everywhere, regardless of if she had exactly clocked each and every one of them in that moment. Especially on ice, how could she have decided to peel out in good faith?

I think the video shows she was at least looking right at the guy before she hit the gas. Nevertheless, She clearly knew there were people in very close proximity and she floored it. If she just drove away casually she probably would not have been shot and if she was then the LEO would be in a much more precarious situation.
quote:

agree with you. I don't think the video makes it obvious at all that she "saw him" and "tried to hit him". I think she was attempting to pull away from the ICE officer that was pulling on her door handle, so she floored it. Now, that was a reckless move in and of itself since there were pedestrians everywhere (including her wife attempting to get in on the passenger side). But I think people are seeing what they want to see in just casually asserting she was TRYING to hit people.

She was recklessly operating a vehicle in close proximity to a lot of people a couple of which were LEOs telling her not to drive away. I don’t really know if she was trying to hit him or avoid him or expect him to jump out of the way. But I also think it’s pretty reasonable that the LEO thought she was trying to run him over or at a minimum trying to use the vehicle to ram into someone/something. Given her demeanor, it appears she thought LEOs would simply stand down and let her go.
quote:

This is what I see too. Not necessarily, "she saw him and tried to run him over", but just that she didn't give a frick.

This. I think the driver just assumed he would just jump out of the way and let her go.
Imo the video clearly shows the driver saw the ICE agent. Imo it also shows that she wasn’t scared or panicking. I believe I heard the wife tell her to drive away. I am guessing the driver just expected the ICE agent to jump out of the way and let her go.
