Weekend Results Thread 10/4-10/6 Hunting and Fishing

3 man limit of reds pretty quick Saturday morning in the Biloxi Marsh. Played catch & release for a bit and then headed back to catch kickoff of LSU game.

Found a two-man limit of trout and a bonus redfish in Big Lake. Probably caught 3-1 dinks to keepers. Bought a quart of shrimp at Calcasieu Point and didn’t even dip into the live well until we had our trout limit and went looking for reds.

Popped some squirrels and caught a bunch of catfish. Little balls took his 20 gauge and whipped his .22 wielding elder cousin 6-1 on bushy tails. Twas a fine weekend. Catfish were biting like crazy.

Broke knuckle on pp Friday morning, had a flat on boat trailer sat morning, both garage door springs broke last night. Tire store fixed flat but didn’t balance, door guy here now, just ordered replacement knuckle/spike from pp.
Saturday charter was worst group I have ever had on my boat, yeah me.

Cormies had medicine 
Non stop cussing, loud, obnoxous childish behavior by all three. One turned my bubbler off killing half of their live bait that i babied until then to keep alive. I was embarrassed that others actually saw them in my boat.

40 trout in Catfish Lake. Went to redfish, but water was super high and never came down.

I moved my "every other Friday off" to Monday this week and set off to scout some local public land. Figured Monday after opening weekend would give me an idea of where folks have been hunting and would also be quiet.
I took the .22 and left the bow back. It was hot, figured I'd be better off covering lots of ground looking for sign and popping a few tree rats.
Ended up seeing a good number a oaks dropping acorns, not much on tracks but the ground is super hard, and did see 2 does. All in all a good morning.
Got home and started dinner.
First one of the day!
Final count, saw a lot but they were super skittish
Cleaned up
Seasoned up
Browned deer sausage, smoked hog hock, trinity for whitebeans
Seasoned and dusted for the oil
Said oil
Final product

Moved to Minnesota this summer. Got my first bow buck this weekend.
