Why were the Saudis allowed chartered flights out of the US minutes after 911?

When every other airline in the US was grounded. Only military and Saudi chartered flights were allowed to fly.

I think it was because bin Laden was pegged as the culprit and to protect the Saudis, they got them out of the country.

Probably because the Saudis that left had nothing to do with 9/11 and wanted to get out knowing that their fellow countrymen committed a huge act of terror. Not sure why this deserves a grand conspiracy
