Having a chili cookoff for a work function. Serving in 2oz bowls, how many lbs of ground meat will be needed to serve 100 people.

That was probably a little too mean.
The answer is 12.5.

Are you guys getting 12.5 pounds simply based on 2 oz x 100 x 0.0625 lbs/oz? Maybe i'm losing my mind but he's not serving 100% meat for the chili (not taking into account water weight loss while browning).
Assuming 2 oz per serving you'll need a little over 1.5 gallons of chili to serve 100 people. My recipe usually makes that amount and I typically add around 2.5 pounds of meat. You could up it closer to 3 pounds just to make sure.

3-5 lbs of meat for 2+ gallons of chili.

12.5 jives.
I usually cook about 3lbs for my family of 6.
So, that's about .5lbs per person - let's call that an 8oz bowl on average between kids and adults.
So, that's about .063lbs per oz.
If you need 100 2oz servings, that equals about 12.6lbs.

I agree with OTIS here. It should be around 3 to 5 if you're making 2 gallons. If he's dividing up chili it'll be into a 2 oz up (volume not weight). Something similar to this. 12.5 pounds of meat would be closer to a 10 to 12 gallon batch. There's 128 oz per gallon. So for 200 servings you need around 1.58 gallons.

I’d cook more than 12.5 lbs of meat for 100 freaking people. I know they are 2 oz bowls, surely they gonna be coming back for seconds right or are they only allowed one bowl?

Don't think bowl, think tasting cup. Like the size of a condiment cup for ketchup and what not. And there will be other chili to taste, it's a cook-off.

And it’s probably actually larger than a condiment cup, but when I looked at pictures of 2 Oz tasting cups, ketchup was pictured in one.
