two days ago, I was at local course with another baw, 132 yards from the green about 5 steps into the left side of fairway. Small driving range area a bit deeper than the green, 150 yards from where I was. They did have a row of trees, about 15 ft tall, lining that side of fairway from range but no netting.

So, I'm got my 8 in hand addressing the ball, about to start my backswing, when I heard a whooshing sound a split second before taking a stray ball to the side of my head, about 3" back from temple area. Dropped me to my knees and for a couple seconds I thought I was done. Some hack on driving matt badly hooked the ball that cracked me. Thank goodness I heard no "fore" or I would have turned my face right into the path. My buddy yells at the range area "what about a fore?", dude says I'm gonna go get some ice. Never to been seen from again, SOB just left the course.

Had a knot the size of a lemon, stopped playing, drove home, iced head. After 45 minutes of ice, I realized, crap, I could've kept playing.

It scared the crap out of me. That is all.

First, I’m glad you’re okay.

Second, I know this is a true story because you admitted to hitting your 8i from 132.

This is why pace of play is important. If you just played a skooch quicker ball would've went right behind you.

Wow what a huge POS. Probably could’ve gone to the pro shop and figured out who he was, since he likely used a credit card.
I don’t blame the guy for hitting the bad shot, happens and really it’s just bad luck the range is faced that direction and you happened to be there. Leaving the course? That’s messed up

i hit my 8 155, but it doesn't go straight. distance means nothing if you cant control it.

Glad you are OK, i would have been angry and would have taken some time to be comfortable playing again.

I know a guy who had this happen to him. He ended up with some neurological problems. It didn't show up right away either. Make sure you tell someone who you associate with often so they can watch out for signs over the next several days.

I took one to the chest a few years ago. My buddy got a work call, so we all played up to the green. I marked my ball and was lining up a birdie putt. I heard “fore” quick enough to straighten up; otherwise, it would have domed me. His ball goes off my chest and lies 2’ from the hole. I miss my bird, he makes his.

It’s a wonder this doesn’t happen more often. I hate courses that crisscross holes too often. Especially municipals.

Glad to survived it and seem to be well.

Glad all you got was a bump.

Back in high school was on the range with a buddy when a ball was hit on the edge of a club and went straight sideways. Caught him on the orbital bone. fricked him up good.

The only time I ever got hit was at the LSU before they moved the front nine across the road. It was close together. I was facing East so must have been on either hole four or five. I hear fore and turn my back so the ball catches me right in the arse cheek. Perfect height to rattle the cods so I was thankful for the warning

Almost took one Saturday at Santa Maria. Walking up to the hole and on the cart path almost to the tee box. Hear a WHOOSH and then ball nails the cart path between me and buddy walking behind me. Never saw it. Guy never yelled fore. Closest I’ve ever been to being hit. I’m usually the one with the bad shot so couldn’t be too mad but a fore would’ve been nice

I'm 25 and hit the 8i 145. I swing my irons at 80%. Straighter ball makes golf a lot easier
