Does anyone have any recommendations? There are some on the northshore, but I can’t commute to there

Some details might help. Age of the person being trained, gender, position, type of training, etc

10 year old son. Still needs some fundamentals, but he mostly plays up— typically striker.

You could contact one of the clubs for a recommendation. For example, if you called the LA Fire office or emailed them they would probably give you some names of their coaches who engage in private training. Also check out openacademysoccer.com. Not sure what they can do at the moment with COVID but they offer good skills training.

I think Eric Kugler may give private lessons. He is the Lusher varsity girls head coach. I played on a Sunday league team for several years with him. You can find his contact info on Lusher’s website.

Make sure he learns how to pass. Too many strikers don’t learn how to pass and that catches up with them when defenders get better.

You’re his private coach.
Mine is 13 now, the best you can do is get him in the best club you can. That’s LA Fire for you. They’ll push him all he wants.
Take him to the fields early and setup as many free kicks as possible. Being able to crack those in really matters. One against the Blackhawks.
Talent seems to be a natural thing, although it manifests itself differently for all kids. Footwork and striking can be worked on privately, but it’s difficult to grow as a player when your team isn’t fundamentally sound.
Between 10 and 13 I’ve watched my son play in hundreds of games against thousands of kids and the most important thing I’ve seen is that a quality CLUB makes the most difference.
