Getting fitted for wedges - indoors vs. outdoors

I have been fitted for my driver and irons indoors, or at least hit off of mats out of a bay for the irons and had great results.
Now I'm going to go get fitted for some wedges, I only have 2 wedges and have some serious gap issues as you'd imagine, but getting fit for wedges on a mat just seems wrong.
Titleist does "Titleist Thursdays" at a local course and those fittings are done outside and I was thinking of going with Titleist wedges anyway to match my irons. Am I right in thinking that getting fit for wedges on a mat is ineffective? I'm sure its fine for working out my gap distancing, but as far as picking a grind and bounce I'm not sure.

Yes. Fitting wedges is all about turf interaction.

Hitting off a mat is like running on a treadmill.

Yeah, there was practically nothing on club fitting on youtube before they came.

TXG did a video on fitting a premium ball vs. range ball
If you have the option to get fit with a real ball indoors with a good launch monitor vs range balls outdoors, give me the real ball every single time. People don't realize how different range balls are and how much they affect numbers.

I don’t see how you can get fitted on a mat for wedges. The whole point is to find the correct bounce for your swing.
