Actually, there are several stories of Dale Sr. going out of his way to be kind to minorities.

I think he got out of driving after he killed a guy at a dirt track. He got investigated for that because it looked like he could've avoided the driver, after the driver got out of his wrecked car. Sponsors kind of cooled on him after that.

Here is a silver lining to the dark cloud of racism that hovers over NASCAR: when they make a bio-pic of Bubba Wallace’s life and all the racism he has overcome to become a middle-of-the-pack driver, Jussie Smollett can play the role. The likeness is uncanny.
