When coach met with the media yesterday he spoke highly of Jordan Jefferson...

"Jordan Jefferson, the freshmen quarterback, learns...He picks it up pretty quickly...He's a long way from being ready to play but he's getting there"

"I was probably suprised by how well Jordan Jefferson handled it...he had a really nice afternoon"

"I can't imagine we'd redshirt the 3rd QB on our team on scholorship"

It's early but coach is fond of this guy.

Both Hatch and Lee said that they think a 2 QB system could come into play this year. It wouldn't be a huge shock to see Jefferson getting some RP esque snaps this year. Especially if he picks up the offense as well as Les says he does. Just some thoughts.

Disagree. Think he will only see the field if other 2 bomb out or injuries set in. JJ is headed for a red shirt year.

Is "falsest" a word? Because it should be.

As in: "This is the falsest post ever on the Rant."

You disagree with Coach Miles who actually controls whether he redshirts or not. Awesome.

Dude we had three quarterbacks that played last year. So what is the big deal? How many snaps did Hatch get? If the game is on the line and we have to play a true freshman vs a Florida, Auburn, Alabama, or Georgia it won't be pretty.

You know true freshman have started and done well at qb in the SEC before.

I agree it doesn't sound like he will redshirt but I don't expect to see him in games when the outcome is in doubt. I'm elated that he is a great prospect. He may very well be the starter next season. If he is the starter this year, it's going to be a long season, IMO.

Anyone disagreeing with LM's eval, must be be clairvoyant. From what I read, seems les said unequivically that JJ would not redshirt.

Did I miss something here?

I disagree. None of our quarterbacks have any college level experience. I realize it's eventually going to turn into a Hatch/Lee "understands the offense" better than Jefferson, but to me based on who gives us the best chance to win, I don't thnk any of the three are ahead of the others at this point. Neither JL or AH appear to me ,in what little we've seen so far, to have the confidence that they belong starting for a major college football team. They seem extremely nervous and tight. I think we are going to need JJ to play alot this year to make plays. Will he get an actual start? Maybe not, but he's definitely going to play. He's the best runner/passer we have, regardless of his age/experience.

The situation is a good and bad one for Jefferson. First they will not redshirt him with only 3 QBs. Second, Lee and Hatch will have some tough spells during this season's games and Jefferson will get a chance to play then with little pressure. Little pressure?? Because if the other two are doing poorly a bad performance by him will just show that playing SEC football with a young QB is difficult. If he has a good performance it will be a surprise and give him more confidence for future efforts.

I am not saying it is correct in this case, but there are times that coaches say things in the media that is commonly known as "coach speak".

This is true.. P. Manning, Stafford, Mustain, and Leak come to mind. These guys didnt have to learn Crowton's system however.
