Is there some little known secret about Keiland Williams that keeps him from establishing himself as No.1Tailback? Charles Scott works harder, etc, etc.?

fumbling problems in practice maybe
I'm basing this opinion on the Spring game.

I agree with Xtremetiger. From what we have gathered from the spring practice, he was benched for fumbling. Charles Scott went down with an injury, so Richard Murphy was able to distinguish himself as a possible #1 candidate.

Well last season KW fumbled, This spring game KW fumbled and more so again in practice. So I would assume it has something to do with that. I hope he learns how to better protect the football because that vision that he forever burned into my mind of him busting the pistol formation wide open is unbelievable!

How many fumbles did he have last year?
That is a myth.
I for one like the fact the we have a sysytem with 3 or 4 backs in it.
We always have fresh legs. We just have a crap load of talent at RB, that's why he hasn't broken away from the rest

is this what your talking about

I dont know why people here think that kw has a fumbling problem. Hester and Holliday and Perrilloux were the only ones (that i know of) who put the ball on the ground and each did it ONCE. I also dont wanna hear how kw doesnt hit the hole. Just bc he ran around a bit and got tackled one play in the sec champ game, people here think that he doesnt hit the hole. The fact is we have 3 #1 caliber backs and one does not deserve more carries than the others

Maybe what keeps him from being the number 1 back is the fact that CS, RM, and TH are just to good to leave on the sidelines. I love being able to work in backs the whole game who could all be starters. That's a great problem to have.

It isn't a myth as much as stupidity. I believe that all of our returning RBs have a total of 1 fumble in their entire careers put together. BTW, Hester had 2 in his whole career. So, that doesn't explain why he played ahead of them either.

1) there've been rumors of this for 2 years
2) that's the only explanation most of us can figure--that he fumbles in practice. And contrary to what Max, and SFP will say, practice counts. It counts a lot. It determines who plays in the games.

well herman johnson has 0 fumbles just give him the rock....touchdown

Okay, I can understand that practice counts, but he has more career carries than either Charles Scott or Richard Murphy and has yet to put the ball on the ground in a game.

or it could just be that Charles Scott runs harder, blocks better, and is just a more complete back.

Running Back By Committee is the problem.

Which is why Keiland has over 50 more carries than Scott over the past 2 years?
I would say they're different backs most certainly. Maybe Scott does ground out more yards between the tackles, but Keiland is more of a homerun threat off tackle and definitely in the passing game.

Well, the others haven't fumbled enough either to penalize them if KW's fumbling in practice significantly more than them. I have never seen a KW practice. He might have fumbled 1,000 times in practice. He might have fumbled zero. But if he's constantly fumbling in practice, that would probably show a lack of focus, and he's not shown himself that much better than the other 2 to reward that with more playing time. Maybe they feel they can't trust him as much as they can the others. I have no idea.

Charles Scott had 12 carries total in the last SIX games. did he have a fumbling problem in practice thats why he wasnt getting the ball?
Posted on 8/8/08 at 5:37 pm to Hot Carl
there is something to be said about being a gamer even if he does fumble in practice (which nobody knows). He has like 150 college carries so far with 0 fumbles.

I totally agree. I'm just throwing out a possible explanation.
